“Great location as close to the beach (approx 15 min walk).”

Very comfortable beds and the furniture included sun loungers, which is a must as far as I am concerned. We had a heatwave during our stay so the lined curtains kept the heat out when needed. The kitchen wanted for nothing and the welcome pack was a nice touch. I loved the fact that this property does recycling and all the bags were provided for this This was a great place to relax and the wildlife, in the huge garden, were a joy to photograph. We walked to the Bedruthan Steps along the coastal path which is close to the Lodge, just across the road and down a private road. My only constructive criticism is that the Information pack in the house is out of date. Lots of construction and re naming of properties in Mawgan Porth mean that the walk instructions are confusing. We know Mawgan Porth well so knew where to go. Just an update on the walking instructions is all that is needed. It would be helpful too if the Smart TV could be set up for the free BBC i player, ITVX etc. We were surprised to see a static mobile home in the front garden which luckily was not being used! But was worried for a minute!! We loved Seaport Lodge.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for your stay at Seaport Lodge, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. There has always been a static caravan on the premises, it can be seen in image 3 on the website, but it is never in use while guests are staying at the property. Property Owner

The property

A unique combination of sea views, space and seclusion, make for a perfect getaway at this superb house above the beach.

Tucked away in a quiet corner in the hamlet of Trenance on the edge of the village, the house backs onto farmland yet there are sparkling sea views from almost all of the rooms.

Children will happily race along the footpath to the fabulous sandy beach at Mawgan Porth, but for the rest of us it is just a ten-minute downhill walk, perhaps a little longer on the way back up.

Surrounded by cliffs there is always a sheltered spot amongst the rock pools, caves and soft white sand of this lesser known north coast beach.

Voted in the Guardian's 50 best European beaches it is has a relaxed vibe and is perfect for little ones.

Lifeguarded from April to September there is a good beach hire shop and surf school for budding dudes or dudettes.

There is also a pub/restaurant, cafe, a beach shop and a farm shop just above the beach.

Mawgan Porth is also home to two superb hotels which welcome non-residents; the family friendly Bedruthan Steps and the up market adults only Scarlet Hotel, both of which have a day spa.

For families, Seaport Lodge cannot be beaten. Light and airy, the large open plan living space provides the perfect place to kick back and relax, book in hand whilst the kids run wild in the expansive garden.

Sweeping lawns, sun decks and sun loungers await outside and if the beach hasn't worn them out then there is a children's play area complete with swings and slide (please note children should be supervised).

About the location

MAWGAN PORTH

Watergate Bay 2 miles; Newquay 5 miles; Padstow 10 miles.

Nestled between Newquay and Padstow on the beautiful north Cornish coast, Mawgan Porth is a sheltered cove with golden sandy beach, great surf and plenty of caves and coastal footpath to explore. With little distraction from its golden sands, life here revolves around the beach. Laze in the summer sun, learn to ride the waves, or watch over stormy seas on a refreshing cliff top stroll. Mawgan Porth is also home to the fabulous adults-only Scarlet Hotel, which offers Spa treatments and facilities to non-residents - and nearby there is a wealth of fine dining restaurants such as Paul Ainsworth's No 6 and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. Mawgan Porth has a handful of shops, including a village store and deli, and a farm shop selling locally sourced meat, eggs, vegetables, bread and pasties, as well as tennis courts, a pitch and putt, and an 18-hole golf course overlooking the Atlantic.
