Polkerris beach, located in a pretty, sheltered cove at the end of a no-through road, is the perfect place to try out a new watersport this holiday. Whether you are a complete novice, or looking to improve on previous experience, the team here can offer private tuition that’s tailored just to you and your family...
An exciting sport, windsurfing can seem challenging at first - but once you’ve got the hang of it, it can also be very rewarding! The team’s modern, lightweight equipment and expert advice will have you up and sailing about in no time. Sessions start at £29 for 3 or more people, and last 1.5 hours.
Experience a truly relaxing escape on board one of the team’s dinghies. Small, light and easy to manoeuvre, you can teach yourself to sail in single-handed dinghy – or learn the ropes as part of a crew onboard a Wayfarer. Family Wayfarer taster sessions are available for 3 people at £75 (lasting 1.5 hours).
Not something you can teach yourself, powerboating needs to be professionally coached. The team at Polkerris Beach Company offer a two-day RYA Level 2 powerboating course which covers everything you need to know, from launching a powerboat to handling skills and recovery. The course is available for 2 or more people at a price of £240.
Stand-up paddle boarding has become hugely popular in recent years, and can be as relaxing or challenging as you want it to be. Give it a go with the team’s one-hour course – then spend the rest of your holiday exploring the beautiful coastline from a completely new angle. The stand-up paddle course costs £25 per person.
Whilst the team at Polkerris Beach Company do not offer tuition in kayaking, their sit-on single and tandem kayaks are simple to use and a great way to drift between Polkerris and Par.
After all that activity, it’s likely you’ll be feeling a bit peckish… before you head home, stop by the at the team’s Polkadot Café, just off the beach – there’s all sorts available here, from ice cream to hot chocolate, pasties, bacon baps and piping hot chips.
The beach shop is worth a look, too – brimming with everything you could need for the perfect seaside adventure, including fishing nets, sun cream, swimming costumes and towels, flippers, wetsuits, fleeces and inflatables. They also hire out sun loungers and wind breaks.
The Polkerris Beach Company is a RYA recognised training centre and all watersports tuition and coaching is provided by fully qualified instructors. All watersports equipment used in courses is available for hire, and buoyancy aids are provided with rentals and for those taking courses. Complimentary use of wetsuits is included in all tuition sessions.
