The property

The perfect seaside cottage, imagine fishing boats bobbing by, ice cream coloured cottages and you have imagined the unspoilt village of Cawsand/Kingsand. Samphire is nestled right in the middle with far reaching views across the bay.

A calm sheltered bay which looks over Plymouth Sound. The beach is made of sand and shingle and has many rock pools to explore around the edges. Boats can be hired and there is a slipway from the beach. The sea is an ever changing vista of rowing boats, yachts and the villages own Cornish Gig. There are pebble and sandy beaches, narrow lanes leading to a few charming shops, cafes and pubs where you are sure to receive a warm welcome. The village itself is in the heart of an area of natural outstanding beauty. The coast path runs through the village, taking you to secret coves and stunning scenery, including the 800 acre Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, with its restored mansion and Grade 1 listed gardens and the rugged Rame Head Peninsula.

Samphire is a traditional terraced cottage furnished in a eclectic style with a blend of seaside memorabilia. The open plan living accommodation on the ground floor, is warmed by the glow of wood burning stove. To the rear there is pretty galley style kitchen. On the first floor is a spacious twin bedroom enjoying fine sea views, as well as a shower room with WC. Walking through the shower room will bring you to a single bedroom and so this property can offer flexible sleeping arrangements for four guests. On the second floor is the wonderfully light and bright master bedroom with glorious dual aspect sea views - even a bath tub with a view! There is also a separate WC on this level.

Whitsand Bay is just a 10 minute drive, with its dramatic scenery and long stretches of sandy beaches. There is a ferry service in the summer from Cawsand beach to Plymouth Hoe where you will find Smeaton's Tower, open to the public all year round and offering a wonderful vantage point from its lantern room. Parking can be found in the village car park a couple of minutes walk away where weekly tickets can be purchased. One well behaved dog welcome at £15 per week.

About the location

KINGSAND

Plymouth 24 miles.

The twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with narrow streets winding between pastel-coloured cottages, lie on the Rame Peninsula just 5 miles from Plymouth, but because the high ground of Mount Edgcumbe lies between, you are not aware of being near a large city. Instead, you can relax in the peace and quiet of village life, and look out over Plymouth Sound which offers calm waters ideal for watersports, fishing and bathing. Take a walk south along the coastal path to Penlee Point for the glorious views of Rame Head, towering above the sea, or, a walk north along the coast will take you to Mount Edgcumbe Park with fabulous views of Plymouth Sound. From Cawsand, take a ferry trip to Plymouth and visit the Aquarium, the historic Barbican or enjoy a spot of retail therapy. Just a mile west of Kingsand lies Whitsand Bay, with 4 miles of sandy beach and dramatic cliffs. You really are spoilt for choice in this ‘secret hideaway’.
