The property

Enjoying an exclusive position just a stone's throw from Cornwall's Riviera Coastline, this newly refurbished bungalow provides light, bright and spacious accommodation for six guests. Visitors to Polkerris View will be enchanted at the sight of the sun rising over the glittering sea and Gribbin head in the east.

Just a short walk will take you to the nearest sandy beach and The Carlyon Bay Hotel and Golf Course which overlook it. A 15 minute walk west will bring you to the historic port of Charlestown where you will find a number of cafes, shops, restaurants and galleries. Charlestown is also home to magnificent square riggers or 'tall ships' which give a clue to its important past as a Georgian port. A visit to the delightful coastal town of Fowey is a must for guests at Polkerris View; the quaint narrow streets are lined with art galleries, boutique shops and upmarket eateries. Enjoy an afternoon in a cafe on the banks of the Fowey River and watch the hive of activity as yachts come and go. Garden lovers will delight in the giant biomes of the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both of which are within easy reach.

Once inside the property, guests will enjoy relaxing, cooking and socialising in the open plan living space which has been designed with family holidays in mind. The adjacent kitchen has modern cream shaker kitchen units which are complemented by a wide range of appliances and kitchen equipment. There is a separate utility area which links the kitchen with the games room which is the perfect place for teenagers to break away and enjoy a game of table tennis. There is an enclosed lawned garden to the rear of the property plus ample parking for several cars to the front.

About the location

ST AUSTELL

Pentewan 4 miles ; Charlestown 1.5 miles ; Truro 15 miles

Just a short drive from the pretty south Cornish coast, St Austell is one of the largest towns in Cornwall. The landscape around St Austell is rich in kaolin (china clay) and this once made the region extremely prosperous. Today, the china clay industry is in decline and tourism has become the mainstay of income for St Austell and its surrounding parishes. St Austell town centre is home to a range of independent and well-known shops, an undercover shopping centre and a Local Produce Market, which takes place every Friday and Saturday. There is also a range of excellent restaurants, cafes and inns – from traditional country pubs to 2 AA rosette fine dining. Just outside St Austell is the iconic Eden Project, as well as the award-winning Lost Gardens of Heligan, Kidzworld, and the Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum. There are some beautiful beaches in this area, too – many with good kayaking conditions – and many miles of coastal footpath to explore. The mainly traffic-free Pentewan Cycle Trail runs from St Austell to Pentewan; here you can enjoy a bite to eat at the village pub or beach burger shack before making your return journey to St Austell. One of St Austell’s main events is the Torchlight Carnival which takes place each November – and of course, the World Pasty Championships, which are held at the Eden Project each March!

Note: Max 6 adults. No smoking.
