The property

This property sits just above the shoreline of Downderry beach and has lovely sea vistas. Superbly positioned to command uninterrupted views encompassing Rame Head and the Eddystone lighthouse, a panoramic seascape and the sound of waves lapping onto the foreshore will fill your days. One of a small row of quaint coastguard dwellings built in the early 1800's, the aptly named Watchtower Cottage sits facing seaward fronting a neatly lawned garden, overlooking the shore, rock pools and sand and shingle beach below.

The sympathetically styled interior promotes homely comfort whilst retaining period character and in the living room large windows frame the views over the garden to the sea beyond. A well equipped kitchen and four bedrooms, one of which is conveniently en-suite lead off from a central hallway. Bounded by low hedging, many happy hours can be spent in the front garden taking in the fresh sea air and coastal views.

Access to the beach is just a few paces from the cottage, recommended by the Marine Conservation Society activities include, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and fishing. This is a sheltered beach made of sand and shingle with rock pools at low tide. A small slip road gives access to the beach for those launching boats. Downderry lies between two of the most beautiful parts of the South West coastal path. A short walk will take you to the centre of the village where you will find a local store/post office, a beach shop with pasties, the restaurant 'The Blue Plate' and the renowed 'Inn on the Shore' which offers great food and local ales. Just a 10 minute drive to the longest zip wire ADRENALINE QUARRY at Menheniot for those thril seekers, 10km Bike Trail through woodland at Lanhydrock National Trust 15 miles away and the monkey sanctuary and Crafthole golf course are within a fifteen minute drive. There is parking for two small cars or one medium car adjacent to a small rear garden.
