Small and sandy Kiln Beach is a great spot for sailing and boating with harbour, waterside pub and seafood restaurant just a few minutes stroll away, framed by the scenic riverscape to Falmouth. Enjoy the fun of the annual Regatta, take a water safari excursion to spy seals or hire kayaks and explore the pretty tranquil waters and secluded creeks along the Fal River. For less wet pursuits, don walking boots along the riverbank around Trefusis Headland to Mylor.
From Flushing, board the passenger ferry to Falmouth. This famed resort with deep water harbour hosts a bounty of restaurants, traditional inns,bars and art galleries, the National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle and choice of four beaches for swimming and sand-side picnics. Visit the beautiful Trelissick Gardens, a 10 mile drive away with flora and woodland walk set against a big river backdrop. Truro city, with majestic Cathedral and cobbled lanes with theatre, cinema and retail outlets is a half hour drive away, with a bounty of eateries and bars. Within a 30 mile drive or less, the much favoured hot-spot destinations of iconic St Ives, with dinky quay, boutiques, Tate Gallery and golden beaches offering surf lessons and board hire, and the Lizard Peninsula's almost Mediterranean Kynance Cove are a must!

Pendennis Castle, built by Henry VIII, is Falmouth's most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by the rocky coves, sandy beaches and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. Go there by car (15 miles) or take the passenger ferry from Falmouth (15 minutes). For nature lovers there is the Swanpool Nature Reserve, a lagoon and SSSI teeming with a variety of wildlife.
