Beach lovers will be drawn to sandy Poldu Cove, Nr Mullion or Church Cove at Gunwalloe within a 10 minute drive and the National Trust owned Kynance Cove, less than a 20 minute drive. The village of Mawgan with its candy coloured thatched cottages; pub serving a mouth watering menu and a convenience store/Post office is a little over a mile. You can leave the car and set off on scenic countryside rambles or with a picnic for a woodland walk through the nearby historic Trelowarren Estate (seasonal opening times) or along the secluded creeks of the Helford River. Helford is a picturesque village on the south side of the Helford River. Helford is very popular with its thatched cottages, excellent village stores and especially The Shipwrights Arms, right on the edge of the creek with its waterside terrace. Just a short walk away is Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier. The Helford River Sailing Club is very popular and a regatta is held every August. In the summer a passenger ferry runs to Helford passage, the home of the Ferryboat Inn, and nearby to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The wildlife on the Helford River is diverse and a birdwatcher’s paradise.
