Escape to an other-worldly paradise at the idyllic Castle Cottage. Hidden away in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this pretty cottage is on the edge of Ruan Lanihorne, a tiny village on the Roseland Peninsula. The immediate surroundings are lush and green with spectacular walking and cycling trails on the doorstep. There is a good foodie pub in the village serving lunches and dinners in the garden in the summer or in front of a roaring fire in the cooler months. Don't worry beach lovers there is a mile long stretch of sand at Gerrans Bay, just ten minutes drive away; with parking and easy access it is a good spot for swimmers.
The Roseland Peninsula provides stunning scenery with wooded valleys and creeks, beautiful countryside and pretty villages clinging to the cliff sides. Walking the coastal path is an excellent way to discover the area so bring your walking boots and amble from St Just in Roseland to St Mawes for a spot of lunch on the waterfront. This fashionable coastal village has the air of the Mediterranean from the harbour you can also hop on a passenger ferry across the water to Falmouth for some retail therapy and cafe culture. Truro, the county capital can also be reached with ease; a small cathedral city there are a wide range of shops, restaurants, galleries, a theatre, cinema and a museum to entertain.

A stable door opens to the sheltered courtyard at the back of the cottage, the perfect spot for soaking up some rays or a civilised soiree.

Truro is the retail centre of Cornwall with a good range of independent shops as well as national stores all within a compact city centre. With its eclectic range of art galleries, bars, restaurants, cinema, theatre, museum and outstanding cathedral this small city is a superb year round destination. Steeped in history and intriguing architecture there is always plenty to do and see. Just meandering through the Georgian cobbled streets is a pleasure in itself. With many peaceful parks all within a short stroll from the centre it is a most relaxing city to visit. A wonderful day trip can be had from Truro to Falmouth along the stunning Fal estuary with many options to disembark and pick up the boat later along the scenic river trip.
