Within a 5 minute drive is the beautiful golden sandy beach at Porth popular with families and surfers. Pack a picnic or enjoy a meal in one of the beach cafes or bars. For water sports enthusiasts the Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay cannot be beaten with everything from kite surfing to waveskiing (tuition and equipment hire available). Food lovers should head to Jamie Oliver's restaurant Fifteen which enjoys unbelievable views of the two mile stretch of beach or Rick Stein at Padstow, both of which you will need to book in advance. Failing that, The Two Clomes, a great foodie pub, is about a mile away. This luxurious holiday home has the advantage of ultra modern en-suite wet rooms to both bedrooms. With underfloor heating throughout Barlendew is the perfect holiday destination whatever the season. Lie back on the reclining leather sofas in the bright and spacious open plan living room or step out onto the large decked terrace which is perfect for a lazy lunch or evening tipple. The contemporary kitchen is very well equipped and there is plenty of room for all to sit together around the breakfast bar. Jump in the car and explore other nearby beaches which include Fistral, Holywell Bay and Mawgan Porth. If you would rather be relaxing then a spot of spa pampering can be arranged at The Watergate Bay, Bedruthan Steps or Scarlet Hotel, all of which are within a few miles. Newquay, one of Cornwall's best loved resorts, is just a 10 minute drive. The town has a total of eleven beaches, and hosts many surfing competitions, some international, throughout the year. There are countless family days out in the area, including the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Waterworld, Tunnels through Time, Cornwall's Crealy Adventure Park and Dairyland Farm World. There are also two golf courses, a skate park, tennis centre, bowling and riding stables nearby.

Newquay is the home of the UK’s surf scene, boasting three major beaches, the National Surf Centre and an endless supply of rolling surf, making it a watersports paradise. The town, with its zoo, sea life centre and varied selection of restaurants and pubs, also promises a holiday to remember. For avid walkers, the South West Coast Path passes in both directions along a stunning coastline of high cliffs, hidden coves and yet more beaches. The quaint harbour and fishing village of Padstow is just 14 miles away, while Truro, with its museums, cathedral, restaurants and cobbled streets, as well as the Eden Project, can be reached within 45 minutes. Picturesque St Ives and the Tate St Ives gallery is around an hour's drive or a train ride away. In fact, because nothing in Cornwall is far from Newquay, it’s the perfect touring base.
