“The property had a big mould issue in downstairs toilet and on the curtains in the main bedroom plus on the ceiling of the kitchen.”

This affected my asthma and we were constantly having to air the place due to the smell which was far from ideal in December. Neither Sykes nor the owners at present are willing to offer a refund of any sort. This from our point of view is sad as first negative review we have ever felt the necessity to leave especially given as the property is delightful with amazing views.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. As mentioned at the time, nearing the end of season, there were a few issues that needed to be taken care of. Our decorator/builder has since attended the property, removed all traces of mould and repainted, along with a few other minor repairs. We are glad to hear that you found Rose Villa delightful, and enjoyed the amazing views! Property Owner

The property

Casting its gaze over charismatic Newlyn harbour, Rose Villa is a classic Victorian double-fronted granite stone house set on a hill with sea views, capturing the beauty of Mounts Bay around the coastline to the Lizard Peninsula.

Ideal for families and pets, the property has generously sized well furnished rooms.

The split-level living/dining room offers comfort and charm with accent stone wall and wood burning stove, perfect for a warm winter retreat.

Light and airy, with French windows opening onto the enclosed patio, you can dine inside or out.

A drawing room equipped with a bed settee also doubles as an extra bedroom, whilst upstairs, two of the bedrooms both frame splendid seascapes and the master room is en-suite.

The spacious well equipped kitchen is attractively fitted with an extensive range of modern cream units.

Encircled by a high wall on two sides, a seaward facing patio provides a sheltered spot for barbecue magic.

Wander through the quaint streets and cobbled courtyards of the village lined with fishermen's cottages hugging the quayside, and sample the produce in the traditional inns and restaurants.

The neighbouring town of Penzance offers a hive of activity and entertainment with attractions galore.

Drive 7 miles round the coast to Marazion with its long stretch of beach and rock-pooling escapades.

Undeniably one of the most eye-catching landmarks, St Michaels Mount is connected by a narrow causeway which can be reached by foot at low water or ferry at high tide, when the 12th Century fortress sits atop a surreal rocky island - an absolute must-see location!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1.2 miles; Marazion 6.6 miles; St Ives 8.9 miles.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
