Property Description
Just a mile outside the Medieval riverside town of Lostwithiel, The Wagon House is part of an ancient farmstead sitting in a pretty valley with views over rolling countryside. Growing in popularity, Lostwithiel is the ideal base to explore breathtaking countryside and discover the unspoilt beaches of south east Cornwall, and even has its own little shingle beach on the riverside. Antiques shops and regular fairs have made Lostwithiel the antiques capital of Cornwall and now has a choice of delis, lifestyle shops, excellent restaurants and pubs plus an award winning produce market. With good road links, a mainline railway station in the centre of town, and ample free parking, visiting couldn't be easier. It's not just the shops which draw the crowds; Lostwithiel's calendar is full of festivals celebrating food, music, arts, antiques, beer and cider. A fifteen minute car journey to the south is the historic seaport of Fowey where visitors can take in the scenery and some of the 7000 visiting yachts which flock to the natural harbour each year. The local area is a haven for walkers and a day out on Bodmin Moor will evoke the myth and legend for which it is famous. There are also numerous circular walks and the South West Coast Path will bring you to secluded beaches and coves. Detached and on one level, The Wagon House is has been converted to provide very comfortable accommodation for two with the choice of twin beds or a double 6' bed. Couples with young ones sleeping in a cot are welcome. Connecting from the living space there is a large south facing terrace looking over the fields and woodland. The open plan living room has a country cottage feel with a modern twist, a very nicely arranged kitchen and a very functional wood burner. With pretty fabrics and quality furnishings there is a homely feel to this new conversion. Visitors are also welcome to explore the owner's nine acres of grassland with ponds on which pedigree Shropshire Sheep graze (children & pets should be supervised). For larger groups, The Wagon House is adjacent to The Byre which also sleeps two and Roosters which sleeps four offering accommodation for a total of eight. There is parking for 2 cars outside the barn.
