Property Description

This seaside house set on a hillside above the cliffs is a perfect location for beach lovers. Three minutes walk will take you directly down to the clean surfing beach of Mawgan Porth. The accommodation is spacious, light and airy. The large sitting room incorporates a spectacular sun lounge with direct access out onto the garden. The well appointed kitchen adjoins the dining room with its large family table. The outside shower together with surfboard storage and a rack for wetsuits are convenient for guests coming directly off the beach after bathing in the sea. Five minutes walk takes you to the village centre, with its surf school, shops and cafes and a pub with beer garden overlooking the beach. Peaceful footpaths with spectacular views lead over National Trust headlands to the famous Bedruthan Steps to the North where according to legend; the rocks dotted across the beach were stepping stones for the giant Bedruthan. To the south is Watergate Bay with its renowned surfing and kite surfing, together with several pubs and restaurants including Jamie Oliver's Fifteen. Newquay is just six miles to the South with its bustle of shops, surfers and night life. As the surfing capital of Britain, you will find no shortage of exciting activities surrounding the waters of Newquay. To see the experts in action, visit Fistral beach, host to many national and international surfing events throughout the year. Eight miles to the North lies Padstow with Rick Stein's famous Sea Food Restaurant and the Camel Estuary. Once a busy fishing port, the character and charm of Padstow is still retained in its narrow winding streets and colourful buildings. The town is home to a wealth of art galleries, tea rooms and shops including a homemade fudge shop. Padstow and the surrounding area offer plenty of things to do with boat trips, speed boat rides and fishing trips from the harbour. The Camel Estuary lends itself to water sports and there is a sailing school in the upmarket village of Rock, just across from Padstow where it is possible to take courses in courses in dinghies, powerboats and keelboats plus RYA shore based courses. The fabulous Eden Project is just over 19 miles away by road and it is certainly worth spending a day here. Built in a disused clay mine, this rich, global garden offers is home to the world's largest rainforest in captivity with steamy jungles and waterfalls. The Eden project is also host to a number of events throughout the year including music concerts and an ice rink at Christmas. Just inland from Mawgan Porth, in the village of St Mawgan you will find the Bonsai Nursery and Japanese Garden. Opened in May 1988 with just one greenhouse and a pergola, the gardens have been grown and developed into a fantastic display of some twenty thousand trees of various sizes and varieties. There is parking for several cars at the house.
