Castle Bay, Marazion
Property Description
Uninterrupted views of an island castle rising out of a shimmering bay will be an enchanting memory that will remain with you long after you leave this spacious, detached bungalow. Step inside and you will find a surprisingly rambling interior which is individual in character and far reaching views over a panoramic seascape will captivate the eye from almost every window. Catering well for large family groups in or out of season, its well proportioned rooms ooze comfort. In the lounge deeply cushioned cream sofas form a pleasing contrast to teak panelled walls and double aspect windows frame the views. Adjoining this, a new contemporary oak kitchen boasts a fashionable range cooker, and a sizeable refectory table is large enough for ten to gather round. An antique Cornish range features in the play den equipped with an assortment of games, a TV and squashy bean bags. Along the corridor in the five bedrooms chunky pine single beds and solid oak double beds are tastefully dressed and a newly updated family bathroom with separate shower and an additional shower room are beautifully presented. A rarity in Marazion, the property has the benefit of a lawned garden and private parking for two cars. A short walk will find you browsing in the little shops and galleries or taking refreshment in one of the little cafés, restaurants or pubs. Beside the beach there is a play park for children who will also spend happy hours building sandcastles or searching for tiny creatures in rock pools at low tide. A visit to the amazing island of St Michaels Mount is a must whilst staying in Marazion and at low tide it is possible to walk across the causeway where a legendary giant once walked. At high tide, hop on a boat and motor into the harbour where trading ships once moored. The medieval castle is surrounded by sub-tropical gardens and enthusiasts can witness rare exotics clinging to granite faces. When ready to explore further afield a visit to the market town of Penzance will surprise and delight. The capital of West Cornwall has an abundance of the individual shops and art galleries including the magnificent Exchange, the largest gallery space west of Bristol. Enjoy a swim in The Jubilee Pool, one of the country's remaining art-deco lido's which is open from May to September or simply stroll along the spectacular seafront promenade. Continuing west from Penzance you will find the historic fishing port of Newlyn and the delightful coastal village of Mousehole. West Cornwall's magnificent peninsula is enclosed within 36 miles of coastline creating an island atmosphere without the isolation. The area has a mythical quality being home to a surviving ancient landscape of neolithic chamber tombs, Bronze Age standing stones and stone circles. To the north is St Ives, the most famous of the Cornish holiday towns with its sandy beaches and azure blue waters. The town has always provided inspiration for artists and is now home to the Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden.
