Brecon, Chapel Amble

Property Description

For the pounding surf of Cornwall's fabulous north coast, the pretty unspoilt village of Chapel Amble five miles from Polzeath is a sleepy backwater to return to after a day by the sea. Nestling in the heart of the village, this charming 19th century cottage can truly be described as deceptively spacious. Extending inwards like a tardis the rambling interior displays a very individual character and a warm, inviting appeal. Beige carpeted and immaculately presented throughout, first there is a childrens' snug/ play room with a TV and Playstation, we then enter a lounge where guests can embrace the traditional ambience of a wood burning stove whilst reclining on a curved cream leather sofa. A corridor leads off past the first of five bedrooms and the family bathroom around into an unfussy dining room with seating for ten and a step down through an archway onto the old slate flagstones of a beautifully fitted oak kitchen with sparkling black worktops. Comfortable, attractively arranged bedrooms of which the master en-suite room is accessed via bedroom four complement the dwelling. To the rear a fully enclosed patio garden is very secluded spot for peaceful relaxation. Serving excellent food the Malsters Arms lies opposite and the Post Office/Store is nearby. Chapel Amble is ideally placed to visit Mid and North Cornwall. The pretty coastal villages of Port Isaac and Polzeath are within easy driving distance and the latter boasts one of the best surfing beaches in North Cornwall. The Village of Port Isaac has frequently been used for a number of television series including the Poldark series and more recently 'Doc Martin' in which Port Isaac was transformed into the fictional Port Wenn. From scenic Padstow to picturesque Boscastle, a spectacular coastline of quiet coves, rugged inlets and superb beaches beckon. Whatever activity you favour there is something for all from golf courses, cycle trails and horse riding, to a small complex near the village with a swimming pool which is open to the public daily. At nearby Wadebridge is is possible to join the Camel Trail which runs from Padstow to Poley's Bridge, via Bodmin. The trail passes through the wooded countryside of the upper Camel Valley and alongside the picturesque Camel Estuary - a paradise for birdwatchers. The traffic free trail follows the route of an old railway and is ideal for family cycling as it is fairly level all the way and the views of moorland, woodland and estuary are spectacular. Further north is Tintagel, home to a ruined Normal castle which is set high on a dramatic 300ft cliff overlooking the spectacular coastline below. From here you can continue to the delightful village of Boscastle which is home to one of the few remaining unspoilt harbour villages in Cornwall. Designated an Area of Outstanding beauty, the National Trust own and care for the beautiful medieval harbour and surrounding coastline. The small harbour now hosts a number of little fishing boats but was once a hive of activity with trade taking place between Wales, Bristol and the south of England. There is private parking for two cars.
