More about the property
Not far from the stunning beaches on the Atlantic coastline and The Roseland Peninsula, River Cottage is superbly sited beside the Tresillian River with water gently lapping along its banks at full tide. This enchanting 300 year old character cottage has been sympathetically extended to create a self contained bolt-hole for a couple seeking a relaxing break. Sit in a section of the garden where uninterrupted river views to the wooded banks of Lord Falmouth's estate can be enjoyed, where herons and egrets can be spied wading across the mud flats. Entrance to the cottage is via the bright conservatory with comfy chairs and dining area, where afternoon cream teas can be savoured against the backdrop of mature garden and water vista beyond. The spacious living room with its beamed ceiling, rustic open fireplace and squashy sofa has been tastefully decorated in serene hues, and is open plan to the kitchen at the far corner. Upstairs, an old fashioned bedstead, pretty fabrics and antique tables enhance the cottage ambience of the bedroom. The village of Tresillian has a pub famed for good food and there is a mini-market nearby. Walkers will enjoy the picturesque four mile stroll along the scenic river bank arriving at Malpas, stopping for refreshment from the local inn. Historic Truro city, with its magnificent cathedral, is within a three mile drive. Here there is much to explore; cobbled streets of boutique shops, art and craft galleries, coffee houses, pasty emporiums, traditional inns serving good Cornish fayre and restaurants galore. The Hall for Cornwall offers entertainment for all tastes or visit the Royal Cornwall Museum and Gallery. Discover the stunning Roseland Peninsula via the King Harry Ferry from Feock. This area of outstanding natural beauty has much to offer - quayside and rural villages, peaceful beaches and hidden coves, cliffs and headlands and lush glades of woodland.
