Property Description

Hidden down a leafy tree lined single track, Ivy's Cabin is a secret find perfect for a romantic break, in the village of Porkellis, close to the ancient market town of Helston and gateway to the Lizard Peninsula. Alpine in design, its wooden structure is unique and pleasant on the eye. An appealing home from home, it is deceptively spacious and comfortably furnished. The interior is open-plan with living room and dining area, and modern well equipped kitchen. A multi-fuel stove set into an attractive stone fireplace adds a cosy feel and is perfect for an out of season break. Outside is a covered barbecue area where a scenic hump-backed bridge spans a small babbling stream and leads to a private grassy paddock, an idyllic secluded hideaway where you can relax and enjoy the lush countryside. The grounds extend to a large pond, quiet and peaceful - this is a lovely setting for a holiday. Porkellis boasts a friendly local pub and Helston, famous for its annual Flora Dance in May, is a 10 minute drive away. An ideal touring location; a 6 mile drive will take you to both the north and south coasts of Cornwall, where villages, beaches and towns can be explored. Charismatic Falmouth is 10 miles away, steeped in seafaring history or visit the village of Porthleven with its harbourside beach and restaurants and traditional inns serving fresh local produce. Walk the scenic coastal path to the long stretch of beach at Praa Sands and watch the surfers ride the waves whilst you enjoy refreshment at a beachfront eatery or try a spot of golf from Praa Sands Golf Club, overlooking Mounts Bay. A little further round the bay at Marazion you are greeted by the magical sight of St Michael's Mount, an island with a medieval castle, a church, exotic gardens and an ancient harbour with restaurants and shops nestling alongside.
