Cockle Island Cott, Porthallow

Property Description

Set in the heart of the small fishing village of Porthallow, the cottage has an elevated and secluded south facing garden, with wonderful views up the wooded valley, and yet the shingle beach is just a few minutes' walk away. The cottage is cosy and comfortable in winter, with a wood burning stove in the lounge/dining room, and in summer the garden offers the opportunity for alfresco dining, with table and chairs and a gas barbecue. The bedroom has a sea view and a king size bed, the fitted kitchen is well equipped, and there are books and DVDs in the bookcase in the lounge to enjoy from the new reclining sofa. The shower room has driftwood shelves and a heated towel rail. Cockle Island Cottage has its own parking space opposite the property. The South West Coast Path is just 50 metres from the cottage, offering excellent coastal views across Falmouth Bay to St. Anthony's Head, and a beautiful walk to Gillan Creek and the Helford River. Porthallow beach is used by local fishermen, and it is possible to drive onto the beach to launch canoes and dinghies. The local pub, The Five Pilchards, offers a warm welcome to visitors and there is a craft shop with locally made pottery. The village shops in St Keverne, just a couple of miles away, offer comprehensive supplies. The local wildlife is abundant, with buzzards circling over the valley and seals occasionally visiting the bay. Cockle Island Cottage is in probably one of the most peaceful spots in Cornwall, and offers the opportunity for a truly relaxing holiday by the sea.
