More about the property
Saffron Cottage, in the tranquil village of Lelant, sits on the mouth of the Hayle estuary, with a large sandy beach on its Atlantic side and a strip of sandy coves accompanying the fast flowing natural beauty of estuary waters inland. From the cottage stroll three minutes to a choice of two character pubs for a hearty meal washed down with traditional Cornish ales and cyders. Within a short walk is the scenic coastal railway, where cream teas are served at the old station house. Two stops down the line and you arrive at the picturesque favoured family destination of St Ives; a charming fishing village whose heart lies around its harbour. Browse the many art and craft galleries, spy the artists at work and enjoy the bijou shops. Enjoy lunch or dinner from a wide variety of restaurants, coffee shops, traditional inns and bars, many on the waterfront overlooking the sheltered beach and quay. Within a short drive visit Marazion with its long stretch of sandy beach and energetic water-sport action. The dramatic St Michael's Mount, rising dramatically from the sea with its fortress atop is a must-see hotspot. Walk the narrow causeway to this part-time island during low water or board a ferry at high tide to the tiny harbour with its huddle of cottages, restaurant and café. The cottage is in a highly desirable development and combines period architecture with a contemporary interior and finish. The living room boasts French doors and a fire to keep you toasty off-season and a well equipped kitchen with breakfast table. The bedrooms are comfortably dressed with smart white bed linen and vibrant red throws. To the rear, the enclosed patio garden provides a safe haven for children and is a perfect spot for chilled drinks and alfresco dining.
