For an active break, it is an excellent centre for water sports activities whilst the less energetic can embark on a pleasure boat trip to the cathedral city of Truro or the waterside town of St Mawes with its 15th century castle. A short drive to the east lies the Helford River and the beautiful sub-tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, which are a must-see for nature lovers, and a little further on is the Lizard Peninsula.
