A selection of holiday properties in Boscastle

Boscastle, made famous made by the floods in 2004, is a little harbour village in a Designated Area of Outstanding Beauty on the north coast of Cornwall. The harbour and surrounding coastline is owned and cared for by The National Trust. Boscastle offers an ideal base for exploring both North Cornwall and Devon – and some spectacular coastal footpath walks can be enjoyed on this part of the coastline. The harbour was once a hub of activity with the fishing trade between south England and Wales; today the harbour is less busy due to the decline of the Cornish fishing industry. The village’s Museum of Witchcraft holds the world’s largest collection of witchcraft related artefacts and regalia, and there is also a pottery and several gift shops in Boscastle. Each October, the village hosts the Boscastle Food and Arts Festival in celebration of community regeneration following the floods of 2004. Boscastle was once a favourite haunt of the author Thomas Hardy, and is in fact the setting for his novel A Pair of Blue Eyes. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour, and on your trip, you might be lucky enough to spot a seal or even a puffin!
