A selection of holiday properties in Coverack
Coverack is a beautiful and lively fishing village on the east coast of the Lizard peninsula. The harbour wall was built in 1724 from local hornblende and serpentine and still boasts a fleet of active fishing boats. The beach is ideal for sunbathing, windsurfing, swimming, sandcastle-building and, if you're lucky you may find a fossil. The village pub, "The Paris Hotel" is named after an American liner which ran aground on the Manacle Rocks (1.5 square mile's of jagged rocks which lie beneath the water's surface) just off Lowland Point, in 1899. Another ship named Mohegan, was wrecked on the Manackles one year before, drowning 106 people. Don't be put off by these facts though - make your way to the end of the village to experience the panoramic views. Following these wrecks, a lifeboat was stationed at Coverack. The Lifeboat is no longer in use and as such, the house has recently been renovated into a fantastic restaurant.
