A selection of holiday properties in Penryn
Penryn is one of Cornwall's oldest towns, and is mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086. In its heyday, Penryn exported granite to locations all over the world. Granite from Penryn was also used to build the London Bridge. Today, Penryn has become somewhat dwarfed by the development of nearby Falmouth. Falmouth is now the area's main trading centre, although Penryn is still relatively busy with a number of boatyards and chandlers. Penryn has several shops and galleries, and retains its traditional cobbled streets. There is a clock tower in the town centre and a museum in the town hall. The King's Arms, one of numerous pubs in the town, is over 200 years old, and there are also many cafes and restaurants. Falmouth is only a few miles away and has a much larger selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs. Penryn is now home to the Tremough Campus - this campus is used by both the University of Exeter in Cornwall and University College Falmouth.
