Tregony is a little village in between Truro and St Austell. Tregony was once considered a town, and was home to many busy woollen mills in the fourteenth century. It was also an important port, which Phoenician and Roman traders frequented long before Penryn and Falmouth became important ports. Sites of interest in the village include the seventeenth century almshouses and the unusual clock tower on Fore Street, which dates from 1864. Nearby Ruan River is popular with birdwatchers, and the woodland between Tregony and Ruan Lanihorne offers some beautiful walks. Tregony’s friendly pub, The Kings Arms in Fore Street, serves excellent food and has a very welcoming atmosphere.
