“We have just returned from a wonderful week at Hingey Farmhouse, what a beautiful house in a fabulous setting.”

The owner was very friendly, checked in on us the first night, which was lovely. When we arrived, the fresh flowers, scones jam and cream were a lovely touch and being able to make a cup of tea after a very long drive as there was milk available, was very welcome. We really enjoyed our stay, we had plenty of room and our 10 month old grandaughter will miss doing crawling laps around the huge kitchen! All in all, we would totally recommend a stay at Hingey Farmhouse.

The property

Peacefully located close to the coastal footpath, only a mile from the picturesque Church Cove, a lovely holiday experience awaits you at Hingey Farmhouse.

An 180 acre working dairy farm, you can watch the activity of cows being milked, children will love the novelty of looking for newly laid eggs for breakfast.

With your relaxation and enjoyment in mind an area of field immediately opposite the farmhouse has been landscaped to create a very private garden, complete with barbecue patio and a safe toddler play area, while older children have space to run and play.

Cleverly divided to provide substantial semidetached accommodation for guests, this rambling old granite stone farmhouse provides all the comfort of home for larger family groups.

During renovation a host of original features were revealed and old beams, exposed stone walls and natural slate floors once again add character and charm to its ample interior.

Furnished in an attractive blend of antique and modern the lounge boasts a traditional wood burner for extra warmth; the country style kitchen is spacious and well fitted; a games room is a welcome attraction and upstairs there are views to the sea from two front bedrooms.

The house is a just mile from Gunwalloe; an idyllic fishing village on the Lizard Peninsula and here you will find the award winning Halzephron Inn noted for its excellent menu. The Lizard peninsula is classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty and it is there is much opportunity to get out and enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Almost surrounded by the sea, the peninsula stands alone, in a very real sense, from the rest of the county and the coastal path takes in pretty little coves where cottages cluster around the tiny harbours and colourful fishing boats chug in and out.

Protected by the National Trust, a stop at Mullion Cove is a must as is a visit to Roskilly's Farm and ice cream parlour.

Between Gunwalloe and the harbour town of Porthleven sits Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

It is separated from the sea by a sand spit known as Loe Bar.

Situated on the Penrose Estate which is now owned by the National Trust, there are public footpaths all around Loe Pool. Venturing inland you will find the market town of Helston and here there is a good range of local shops, cafes and restaurants.

Flora Day is celebrated in the town each May 8th with dancing and festivities in the streets.

There are many attractions in the area including Poldark Mine, Flambards Theme Park and the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.

For those that wish to venture further afield, the coastal towns of St Ives and Penzance are both within easy driving distance to the west whilst Truro, the capital of Cornwall is 30 minutes drive to the east.

There is parking for four cars.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
