Our trips to Cornwall have turned into a 'Groundhog Day' of tradition and happy memories. I can tell you in advance how the week will go... A day on Rock Beach with a visit to Padstow by Ferry A day on Polzeath beach surfing, rock pooling and playing beach games. A day cycling on the Camel Trail A day combining Tintagel and Boscastle. A day walking along the coastal path Visits to Port Isaac, lunches at Port Gaverne, evenings at St.Kew Inn, A lazy day at Treharrock with Tennis, table tennis, sunbathing and barbecue. Thats without thinking about Port Quin, Wadebridge, the ford at St Kew. Ice Cream from the farm shop, driving with one foot permanently on the brake around impossibly blind bends, waking up to cows mooing, the smell of summer....Happy days.

This beautiful country house just outside St Kew is in a most glorious setting, amid 15 acres of formal and woodland grounds, surrounded by farmland deep in the Cornish countryside, yet only 2 miles from the coast. Treharrock Manor boasts rooms of grand proportions and comes complete with its own tennis court. This gracious manor house offers a warm and characterful retreat perfect for exclusive use for family get togethers and groups of friends. On the site of an ancient manor house, the present house was built in 1815 and is full of period features and furniture, such as original fireplaces, gun racks and meat hooks in the kitchen and a sweeping staircase leading to a balustraded upper hall. Treharrock Manor is tucked away on the south facing slope of its own sheltered valley at the end of a 1/4 mile (bumpy) drive near the village of St Kew and close to the shores of Polzeath, Rock and Padstow. Drive to Port Isaac, otherwise known to ITV 'Doc Martin' series fans as 'Portwenn' in around 5 minutes. This narrow cove is very safe for children offering a small sandy beach with rock pools to explore at low tide with picturesque fishing boats bringing their daily catches of local crab and lobster. For a great meal of fresh fish landed at Port Isaac's harbour is Nathan Outlaws 2-Michelin Starred flagship 'Restaurant Nathan Outlaw' which focuses on the simple delights of British seafood cookery and somehow those panoramic views out to sea from the tables add to the flavour. This is a highly desirable destination for families and groups seeking a timeless and restful base that is convenient for exploring the picturesque fishing villages, hidden coves, tall cliffs and expansive golden beaches of the North Cornish coastline. Nearby Rock is the choice for water sports enthusiasts, attracting yachtsmen, water skiers and anglers to its safe tidal lagoon. The beautiful beach here stretches along the River Camel around to Daymer Bay (great for dog walkers) and has a long fine sandy beach, fringed with dunes on which to picnic, play or rest. St Kew is a quaint and unspoilt village, where peace and quiet are assured. The popular traditional village pub, the St Kew Inn serves great food and has a glorious open fireplace where the logs crackle during cold wintry days. Polzeath, just 6 miles away, is favoured among families drawn to rolling surf, long tracts of sandy beach and fascinating rock pools. There are many opportunities for outdoor pursuits with the first-class 18 hole links golf course at St Enodoc, cycle hire at The Camel Trail and superb walks along coastal and inland footpaths. Inside you will find a spacious sitting room complete with open fire and baby grand piano, a huge well equipped kitchen, TV room, snug, dining room which can accommodate 20 guests on 2 dining tables, 11 comfortable bedrooms and plenty of rooms with washing facilities. Please see accommodation section for full list of rooms. Guests will love the basement with table tennis and large billiards table. The house is situated overlooking a private valley surrounded by lawns and sheltered from the coastal winds by mature woodland. The garden features a summerhouse, a stream with pond, bluebell woods and an all-weather tennis court. There is ample easy parking for all guests. For larger parties Treharrack Manor can be booked in conjunction with Treharrock Lodge (property reference 6166) to accommodate a total of 26 guests.
