  • “Chewidden is a lovely place to stay!”

On arrival it was fairly tricky to find. We decided to park in the car park by the harbour and walk up to find where we were going. This meant that we saw the tight entrance into the car park before attempting it for the first time. The car park was great! It felt secure with the gate. Upon arrival to Chewidden we found the much talked about scones, cream and jam in the fridge. This is such a kind gesture and much needed after a long journey. The kitchen was a great size for us. We were able to do all the cooking we wanted. Everything was clean and there were plenty of kitchen utensils. The living room area was perfect for 2. The only issue we found was with the rug. It is extremely slippery due to it being on a wooden floor. Maybe it could do with some grips underneath to stop it moving. We used the T.V most nights just to wind down. Just a reminder to make sure you sign out of any apps used such as Netflix or Now TV before you leave. Upstairs was just as beautifully put together. The bed is very comfortable. One thing that is desperately needed is a fan. I had read reviews before we arrived stating how hot it can get upstairs. They were not wrong! I brought a fan with us but without it sleeping would've been very difficult. It also can get fairly light quite early due to there being no blind on one of the windows. This definitely isn't a deal breaker and didn't affect my sleep much but it might be helpful to others. The wet room is fantastic! The shower gets up to temperature so quickly. Charlestown is a beautiful little harbour to explore. We found lots of great rockpools. The property is also really close to supermarkets, with 4 of them only being a 5 minute drive. Further afield there is plenty to explore within 30 minutes driving. We would definitely recommend the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Overall we had a fantastic holiday using Chewidden as our base. I'd definitely recommend it.
