“The furniture on the decking was very old, dirty and had mildew on it.”
We did not wish to use it as it looked so unpleasant. We did report this and the furniture was pressure washed which we appreciated but this did not remove all of the green mildew.
There was an old brush left on the decking which was obviously broken as the head was snapped off. We consider this should have been removed as it contributed to the decking area looking shabby and uncared for. Additionally there was the base of an umbrella left as well which also looked tatty.
The hot tub heating pump came on during the night every 10 - 15 minutes. It did this during the day but at longer intervals.
This gave us a very disturbed first night as the tub was situated outside the main bedroom French doors. Due to us arriving on a Friday afternoon there was nobody available for us to seek advice and we discovered no one would be contactable until Monday morning as the site is not manned over the weekend . Fortunately we had a second bedroom round the side of the lodge which we moved into for the duration of our stay.
However the hot tub pump could still be heard from that room, frequently throughout the night albeit quieter than the main bedroom.
We were eventually informed that due to the tub being suspended below the decking with no insulation and the fact our lodge was adjacent to the lake, the pump is activated as the temperature drops.
Unfortunately this is not pointed out to customers before they book.
We could have turned the tub off but it would have needed time to build up to temperature before it could be used, which defeats the object of booking a lodge with a hot tub.
