“Had a fantastic week at Bandylegs.”

Its a proper country cottage in a stunning location. If you like country and cosy cottages, this is definable for you. The village is friendly and the cottage cosy and inviting after a day out or a walk on the moors. We would recommend this, and would not hesitate to come back again.

Bandylegs Cottage is a delightful little 18th century cottage in the idyllic hamlet of Mount on the edge of Bodmin Moor – perfect for those looking for a tranquil rural retreat.

The location is an ideal base from which to discover all the delights of Cornwall, being mid-way between the North and South coasts and with beautiful moorlands on the doorstep.

The cottage boasts original beams, stonework and flagstone floors with a contemporary open-plan living space, creating a stylish and cosy ambience.

The sitting area features ample plush seating for you to unwind on as the children play on the Xbox, or put on a family-favourite DVD.

Venture into the bright and modern kitchen, which is well-equipped with all the essential appliances for use during your stay, together with a handy utility area with a washing machine.

Stop for a quick coffee and chat at the breakfast bar before heading out for the day, or gather your group around the sleek dining table for dinner.

As the day draws to a close, make your way upstairs to a vibrant double bedroom featuring cheerful yellows and Cornish seascape artwork, or rest your head in the other wonderfully decorated double bedroom with king size bed and deep blue finishes, original features and dual-aspect windows.

Both rooms contain ample storage for your belongings.

The generous-sized bathroom is a light and bright space, home to a fabulous bath with an overhead shower.

Enjoy a barbecue in the garden or simply relax and unwind on the picnic bench as the kids play in this secure and secluded space.

Off-road parking can be found in the dedicated parking bay opposite the property, for your convenience.

Take one of the many moorland walks around Mount and the surrounding villages and you’ll come across the highland cows and moor ponies roaming on the moor.

Visit the next-door village of St Neot and stop in the pretty whitewashed London Inn for lunch, before exploring the fascinating Carnglaze Caverns.

Head further into Bodmin Moor to Colliford Lake where you can take a dip on a hot summer day, followed by lunch and museum visit at the famous Jamaica Inn.

Travel west to the town of Bodmin to visit 15th Century St Petroc’s Church and take a guided tour around the infamous Bodmin Jail; then head to the stunning Lanhydrock House & Gardens. The Eden Project, with its attractions for all age groups, is a nearby must-visit; and for wine-lovers, don’t miss the chance for a tour of the award-winning Camel Valley Vineyard.

Continue on from there to Padstow, for dinner in one of the many excellent restaurants.

Those looking to visit the coast will enjoy the beautiful beaches and coves along the North coast from Polzeath to Crackington Haven.

Make sure to take in King Arthur’s Tintagel Castle and picturesque Boscastle along the way!

To the South, Polperro, Looe and Fowey each provide their own take on the quintessentially Cornish fishing harbour.

Wherever you choose to explore, you will always be happy returning back to Bandylegs Cottage, your tranquil home-away-from-home.

About the location

BODMIN

Lostwithiel 6 miles; St. Austell 13 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Newquay 21 miles.

Bodmin, the one-time County Town of Cornwall with its narrow streets, shops and pubs, is perfectly placed for exploring all that this fabulous holiday area has to offer. The outstanding surf, rugged cliffs and hidden coves of the north coast beaches and the quieter sands and river estuaries of the south coast are both 15 miles away while on the edge of town is the fascinating museum and haunting presence of the old Bodmin Jail. The popular Camel Trail for cyclists and walkers also winds its way through the town on its journey to the sea at Padstow. Close by are the open spaces and wind swept grandeur of Bodmin Moor while the incomparable Eden Project (11 miles), Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum (30 miles) and the beautiful harbour town of Padstow with its famous pubs and restaurants (16 miles) make for great days out. Also within easy reach and ideal for a fun-filled day out, guests can visit Lanhydrock House, the small town of Fowey and Charlestown with its Tall Ships, The Eden Project and Lostwithiel.
