“What a wonderful property!”

! Beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, stunning gardens, idyllic location/view and everything we needed provided! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and so did our two miniature schnauzers who loved the secure gardens..We have stayed in several properties with Sykes Cottages over the years and this was by far the best. We couldn’t fault anything and would highly recommend a stay! We will be back! Thanks

“This is a very difficult review to write because the house was amazing.”

The decorations, fixtures and fitting are to a very high standard. The house is very spacious and the kitchen is a fabulous entertaining ar as is the BBQ shack in the back garden which we used every day (never went in the dining room and hardy used the lounge) we were blessed with fantastic weather and had booked for two weeks to have a completely relaxing and restful break. Thank you for the welcome pack the jams was delicious. However the crows got us up about 4am every morning peaking and flapping at the windows(this must happen all the time as when we arrived we noticed the windows were dirty) this set our dogs off barking. We then slept with the windows open to stop the crows but they just went to the greenhouse in the garden. Next doors dog was out every morning at 7am barking it's head off. David next door was building a wooden garden unit and because the weather was nice he was working everyday drilling ,banging, hammering and sawing so when we were in the back garden that was all you could hear.....not good when you are trying to read a book and relax and sleep because you have been up since 4am. We returned home on Tuesday afternoon even though we had booked until Friday just to get some rest. I feel sorry for the owners because the house is wonderful however you are at the mercy of the crows and your neighbours.

Ashwood House (as the listing states) is situated in a quaint medieval village with views over a field and pond. Our busy little village is proud of its truly traditional Cornish character, it thrives on maintaining this genuine integrity and so it is to be expected that the local community will be going about their daily lives and that there will be bird life in the adjoining fields. This, as well as a beautiful and well equipment house with good local amenities, is all part of the experience we offer to our guests. We genuinely regret that you found our home environment was not suitable for you and your dogs. Naturally, having read your review, we have discussed your concerns with our neighbours and have received the following feedback:- With their frequent barking your two ‘extremely reactive and yappy dachshunds’ were disturbing the otherwise reasonably quiet neighbourhood dogs. It was also mentioned that you were ‘out in the garden until late playing loud music with much cackling laughter and some arguing?’ and that there was a ‘distinctive aroma from the substance being smoked’ during one of these sessions. On the Sunday before you left a male member of your party ‘had a right go’ over our wall and another neighbour’s garden shouting and swearing at an elderly neighbour about her little dog. Happily though, I can report that there is no sign of the crows and that the windows are sparkling clean. We very much wish that during your stay you had got in touch and given Cornish Cottage Holidays and us the opportunity to address your concerns… Property Owner

We couldn't fault it in any way. We were unable to make use of the outside space due to the weather, but it would have been super earlier in the year. Being located fairly centrally in Cornwall it meant we could reach most places in less than an hour. on both north and south coasts

“Wow what a beautiful place…we consider it a huge privilege to have stayed here, what a wonderful property.”

Everything was to the highest standard and spotlessly clean too. Other reviews have mentioned how the pictures don’t do it justice and we completely agree,’it was fantastic. The outdoor eating area was magical, the kids loved it, and the view over the ‘Peter Rabbit’ pond complete with white geese & allotment was just perfect, what a fabulous location. Everything far exceeded our expectations, a wonderful place for a holiday!

“This property was absolutely beautiful.”

We loved the rooms, layout and were thoroughly spoilt with 4 shower rooms. The pictures really do not do it justice and we had a wonderful holiday. The scones on arrival were a lovely touch. Although it was very well equipped we could have done with some more mugs and glasses since we weren’t created enough washing up to keep putting the dishwasher on but a real minor thing! I would highly recommend Ashwood House.

“What a wonderful home!”

Ashwood House is so beautiful. It is spacious, very well equipped with high spec goods, extremely comfy beds, fantastic showers, a pretty garden with a super outside dining space and lovely views over the small lake. It is well situated for exploring Cornwall and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.

“The house is beautiful, definitely had the wow factor from the moment we drove onto the drive.”

Lots of space, great that each room has an en suite, the kitchen is well equipped too. Location is great, although just off the main road, you wouldn’t know once at the house, we never heard any traffic. The local shop and cafe is well stocked and welcoming (2 minute walk) We had great weather so spent lots of time in the garden, my son loved watering the plants, and the adults enjoyed lazing in the sunshine with a drink, and eating in the outdoor covered area in the evening when it cooled down a bit. Overall we had a great stay, beds were comfy, and lots of space! We couldn’t fault anything, I don’t think the pictures do it justice! It exceeded our expectations. Thank you!! “A beautiful property with everything we needed and more.”

The house was well equipped and spacious with a lovely garden where we enjoyed a barbecue in the sun.The scones and clotted cream were delicious and a lovely welcome when we arrived.We found the location ideal and we were able to visit many places easily including Fowey,St Ives,Porthminster beach Padstow ,Lost Gardens of Heligan ,and many more.An excellent find which we would definitely recommend to others.

“We had an absolutely lovely holiday at Ashwood House.”

The property was amazing, so welcoming, clean and we were very pleased to stay and would certainly return. The scones on arrival were fantastic. The information book and instructions for appliances were extremely helpful. The neighbours were all friendly and the local pub was welcoming with excellent food. The directions were excellent with adequate parking and gardens that were secure for dogs. Overall, thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful house.

Grampound is a pretty, historic village situated on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula, a designated part of Cornwall's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Approximately equidistant to the cathedral city of Truro, the old market town of St Austell and the north and south coasts, it is an excellent location for exploring the Cornish Riviera with its beautiful landscape and coastal scenery. You will find a country pub, heritage centre, restaurant, general stores and a coffee shop in the village. The long tracts of sandy beach at Carne, Pendower and Porthluney, are dog-friendly and are within easy reach of and the charming fishing village of Mevagissey and historic port of Charlestown, which are well worth a visit.
