There are two different low ceilings above the stairs that required ducking and for those with compromised mobility it wasn’t easy to get up and down. The final step onto the tiny landing we thought was quite dangerous and in need of at least one grab handle.
Also a grab handle to get in and out of the bath would have been useful as the taps are at the open end of the bath, not into the corner.
The general decoration is in need of quite a bit of TLC with scruffy woodwork, torn and ripped wallpaper, peeling paint on ceilings. To see wood chip on walls in a cottage charging modern property rents was a surprise.
Overall we felt that the fifty or sixty year old remodelling of the cottage really needed some consideration and alteration. The staircase especially.
Outside the garden is lovely. But the plants around the front door are overgrown and need cutting back. A doormat inside of this front door is essential, but not provided.
One other point, the information sheet gives details of free parking further along Duporth Road. This now incorrect as the parking is Resident Permit only.

I have asked Sykes to obtain and publish a better photo of the back door.
The stairs are typical of the old cottages in the terrace but, provided this is feasible, I will have a grab handle fitted at the top. And I have added a sentence to the accommodation summary about the narrower tread.
I have revised the property description.
There are practical as well as aesthetic considerations to the decoration of an old cottage not far from the sea. As usual the state of the décor will be reviewed by a decorator at the end of the season and redecoration take place in the quieter months.
I have asked the gardener to cut back the plants at the front and weed the back and we will have some more stones put down at the back to deter weed growth as soon as this can be arranged.
Similarly, I have asked the housekeeper to obtain a new doormat.
I believe the information concerning parking is up to date on the website but I will check the information sheet in the cottage is correct too.
