    Whilst the flat itself was really very nice and comfortable - the road parking was very difficult. We were aware that we might have to park on the road - however the road (Chywoone Hill) is quite steep, often extremely busy with fast traffic (despite a 20 mph limit) , very limited parking and an absence of pavements along some of the road. We are perfectly happy to walk up and down hills to access the car; however we often had to park some distance away from the property, and walking on the ...

We were aware that we might have to park on the road - however the road (Chywoone Hill) is quite steep, often extremely busy with fast traffic (despite a 20 mph limit) , very limited parking and an absence of pavements along some of the road. We are perfectly happy to walk up and down hills to access the car; however we often had to park some distance away from the property, and walking on the road, in the dark (late afternoon) with heavy traffic (buses, vans etc as well as cars) is not pleasant or safe. This is the major ( and only) disadvantage of this property - but this should be made clearer in the advert - the note that the accommodation is all on the ground floor is presumably to appeal to visitors with limited mobility - but the access to this property makes it very unsuitable for such people.

As mentioned previously, parking can be a bit tricky but, for larger cars, there is alternative roadside parking on a first come, first served basis just a short walk away. Hopefully, the fantastic views from Sea Shimmer make up for the hill. Property Owner

The property

Located in the port of Newlyn, this ground floor apartment features as part of a Victorian terrace from the 1900’s, and offers spectacular views of the seafront.

It’s the perfect property for a couple seeking a romantic retreat next to Penzance’s neighbouring town, surrounded by stunning scenery and plenty of adventure.

There is one bedroom within the property with a traditional wood frame bed and accompanying furniture, this room is an excellent spot to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.

Start the day off in the open plan sitting/dining area after your slumber, featuring beautiful bay windows overlooking the sea, there’s no better place to eat your morning meal.

For a breath of fresh air, head to the courtyard with your coffee and a book and enjoy the sun.

The local area features an array of beautiful scenes and attractions perfect for exploring, such as The Old Quay harbour and Newlyn Art Gallery, there’s a vast amount of activity both in the local area and further afield.

If you feel like whipping up your own home-cooked meal in the apartment, head into Newlyn for a variety of shops where you will find fresh fish straight from the waters right on your very own doorstep.

For a day trip further out of the village, we recommend visiting St Ives, just over 9 miles away, it boasts wondrous art museums of Tate St Ives and the New Craftsman Gallery, opportunities to get involved in pottery making, and the historical Celtic Cross, there’s a real sense of community and pride in this town, both pleasant and peaceful, it’s well-worth a visit.

Sea Shimmer is a marvellous apartment, perfect for a romantic getaway next to the seaside.

NEWLYN

Penzance 1.2 miles; Marazion 6.6 miles; St Ives 8.9 miles.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
