My partner and I spent Xmas and New Year at Fleurs Cottage with my son and partner, toddler granddaughter and two dogs. Initially we had concerns that it would be smaller than it appeared on photographs so were pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually much bigger than it appeared. The spacious entrance hall provided more than adequate space to hang coats, store shoes and park a pushchair. The utility room, off the dining/conservatory area, was a good place to leave wet dogs to dry! The lounge and cinema rooms were comfortable and cosy, offering opportunities for us to spend time together or apart. We fell in love with the large tv screen in the cinema room! The conservatory, also with tv, had a couple of comfortable chairs and provided a beautiful view of the wooded cliff on the other side of the river Tamar, a short walk away and providing riverside walks. The kitchen was well equipped, offering a choice of cookers and adequate amounts of crockery and utensils. The only drawback to the cottage might be that the varying levels on the ground floor in particular, with a small step into the lounge and cinema room, two steps down into the kitchen, four steps from kitchen to conservatory/dining and small step into the shower room, would definitely prove challenging to anyone with mobility issues. Added to this is that food storage cupboards and freezer were located in the utility room through the conservatory. This was fine for us, although we had to closely supervise our toddler who required a baby gate between the kitchen and conservatory and help into the kitchen from the lounge areas. The first floor was also split level with single bedroom and several steps to bathroom and double and twin rooms. All rooms in the cottage were nicely decorated, cosy and comfortable. The temperature within the cottage, in spite of its size and open plan nature (hallway/kitchen/conservatory) was evenly warm and comfortable. We only lit the log burner once but concluded it was unecessary even though we had a couple of very cold days. We had constant hot water in all sinks, showers and bath. The garden, although we only used the greenhouse to store our Xmas fruit and veg, also provided a summerhouse with a similar view to the conservatory and was not overlooked. The lawns were well kept and there appeared to be wire fencing under the perimeter hedge to make it secure. We let our dogs out and had no issues of them ‘escaping’. The garden area was also split level with a choice of stone or wooden steps to access the cottage. I can imagine it would be lovely to sit outside on warm Summer evenings, enjoying the peace and quiet. Car parking is adequate - we managed to park a large estate car and a transit van within the cottage grounds but would recommend reversing in owing to a tricky blind junction out of the driveway.
