“This property provides lots of space, both to move around and to put your things.”

It is superbly equipped with an abundance of crockery and cutlery. There is a laundry room. The shower is powerful and hot. The situation is a good jumping off point for visits. Owners very pleasant and helpful.

“This cottage was ideal for a couple but will be OK for two couples or a family.”

Very good quality furniture, fittings and appliances. We may well visit here again. Games room, pool and children's play area. Just about all you might need. Just remember to take your own towels.

“Saffron Cottage was an utter delight.”

It was spotlessly clean and every effort had been made to provide everything you needed. The fresh cows milk, apple juice and gingerbread on arrival were a lovely addition! The swimming pool and games room we're a massive hit, not just with an 8 and 12 Yr old, and we were in there daily! We were also informed that they got their hot water from a tank, so make sure to have quick showers, as for four of us (two kids who like to take their time) it lasted just long enough. Do remember to take take your towels, as I misread and didn't take extra, so we used our beach towels a lot! We ventured out most days and upon return, it always felt comforting and like a home away from home. The owners were always on hand for any questions and were absolutely lovely. They held a pizza night which unfortunately we couldn't make, but thought it was a very nice touch. We would highly recommend Saffron Cottage and would not hesitate to go back.

“Wonderful cottage.”

Very clean and everything had been thought about. Even space to put food in the kitchen (a rarity). Lovely peaceful location and great facilities. Our teenage boys (14 and 16) loved the outdoor pool and games room. The pizza evening was a really nice touch. The owners were great - on hand if we had any questions but not intrusive. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

“The cottage was lovely, well equipped, in an idyllic setting, with friendly, accommodating owners, who were on hand when we needed them.”

The pool was well maintained, and the booking system the owners had put in place meant we felt safe using it during these challenging times. We had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend the cottage for a family break.

“We stayed at Saffron Cottage as a family of 4 with 2 girls 5 and under.”

The cottage truly was a home away from home, and we couldn't have felt more comfortable. The site was beautiful, and the girls loved the open space, the pool and the playground. We would definitely recommend and would love to stay again at some point in the future.

“Saffron Cottage is a lovely place to stay.”

The cottage was very clean and had everything that we needed. It is set in a beautiful rural location but not far from town. The farm is great fun - we enjoyed the pool and sand pit most days. Pizza night was a nice addition to the holiday. We had car problems during our stay, and John and Alison went out of their way to help us try to get it sorted. We would definitely recommend Waterloo Farm Holidays, and we hope to go back in the future!

“We had a fabulous time at Saffron cottage and used it as a base to explore Cornwall.”

The house was extremely well equipped and the kids enjoyed making use of the heated swimming pool. Thanks to Alison and John for 'pizza night' where we all enjoyed making pizzas in their outdoor oven.

***Owners Response*** Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent at Saffron Cottage. We've spoken with the owner who assures us that this is the first instance that they have been made aware of this issue. The internal bathroom requires the extractor fan to be on when using the shower, the only explanation we can think of was that the extractor fan was not used during your stay causing moisture to build up during the week. We have now placed a sign asking guests to ensure the fan is used at all times when occupying the bathroom. We are pleased to hear that despite the point raised you enjoyed your stay at Saffron Cottage.

“The barn was very well equipped, having everything you could need.”

The property

Saffron Cottage is a beautiful barn conversion stowed away in a peaceful corner of the courtyard on Waterloo Farm.

It presents a modern look about the place with contemporary fixtures combined with traditional wooden beams and beautiful stone floors.

The surrounding 200 acres which wrap around the farm add to the beauty and idyllic qualities of the cottage.

The two bedrooms comprise lovely sleeping arrangements for 4, in the form of a king-size double and a twin room, and the whitewashed bathroom exudes an uplifting feel.

The charming characteristics are carried through to the kitchen which is wonderfully appointed for your every cooking essential.

The cottage is on one level but with one step down in the hallway.

Waterloo Farm

Waterloo Farm boasts spacious accommodation with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is centrally located for visiting all of Cornwall and Devon, within very easy reach of the sandy beaches and rugged cliffs of the North Cornwall coast. There are numerous award winning restaurants, local food festivals, gardens and golf courses to visit, among many attractions easily reached within the area, such as The Eden Project, Plymouth Aquarium, and King Arthur's Castle at Tintagel, providing fun-filled action the year-round. Alongside the farm with its magnificent livestock and amid colourful hedgerows and flowers, live an abundance of wild birds, butterflies and animals such as foxes, otters and badgers. A wildlife hide overlooks the River Ottery for peaceful viewing outdoors, or should you wish to stay within the cosiness of the interior, the natural beauty can be viewed from the TVs based in every cottage. Webcams have been carefully set up around the farm, so you may just behold swallows eggs on the verge of hatching or baby bats leaving their nursery. There are lots of fun-filled activities on the farm as well as acres of lush Cornish countryside and two miles of riverside walks to explore. Bude 19 miles.

The town of Launceston, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border, has wonderful architecture, including some fine Georgian buildings in the central square, and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle sitting high above the town. You can take a stroll to the Dog friendly Willow Tree Cafe and Woodland Walk or visit the steam train from Launceston through the beautiful Kensey Valley on a 5-mile round trip. Launceston is within driving distance of the seaside resorts of Bude and Padstow to the north, and Plymouth to the south, as well as the stunning Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. A superb base for exploring Cornwall and Devon.

Due to the current situation (Covid -19) and government advice, clay pigeon shooting and the games barn will not be available until further notice. Other on-site activities will be available to guests including the swimming pool, fishing, fire pit and football field.

Towels can be provided at a charge arranged with the owner.
