“We had such a lovely holiday.”

The pool was an added bonus and he kids were in it every day. The Owners were welcoming and friendly and did a pizza night for us which was lovely. It was a great location to reach all the places we wanted to visit as well as beaches and country walks. Milkshakes from Cornish Moo a short walk away were great and everything made for a lovely break. We would definately recommend a visit.

“Gorgeous location.”

MUST visit the Dairy Moo up the road - our children were regular visitors for self service milkshake! Very warm and welcoming. Lots of walks around the area. MUST visit Tintagel Castle for cliff top walks (not wheelchair/pushchair friendly) and also The Hidden Valley for a fun filled day of answering clues around an outdoor woodland area, both dog friendly. Note to vendor - hot tap in kitchen needs adjusting - only slight trickle coming out. Also - could do with some charity shop games left in the house, cards, monopoly, puzzles etc

Great location for exploring Cornwall and Devon. The cottage had everything needed for a young family and very comfy beds. The pool was a great added bonus and the children loved the sand pit.

“We had a lovely stay in the apple tallet, its a very good base to then go out each day and visit the attractions and take in the stunning scenery.”

We had a very warm welcome, the large shared garden and pool are kept in a excellent condition. There is a playground for the kids and a laundry room so everything you will need for a good break. The owners did a pizza night which was a lovely evening in the garden. The only reason I gave a 9 out of 10 was for the following. Dog friendly however there not allowed near the pool or left alone in your property so as a family we couldn't use the pool together. No fenced off area to let the dog off the lead it was a 10 minute walk to a field where he could be let off. If you're over 6 foot tall the bed is lovely and comfortable but your feet will get stuck in the rail's at the foot of the bed, and watch out for the low beams up stairs. However we had a great week thank you to the owners for such a warm welcome.

The added benefit of the swimming pool especially on the hot days was great and the owners leave you to get on with relaxing but also offered a pizza night for any of the guests in any of the cottages. Beautiful part of the country and would love to visit again in the future.

“Lovely stay at The Old Apple Tallet, the location was beautiful, quiet and peaceful on Alison and John's farm just outside Launceston.”

The cottage was gorgeous, well equipped with everything you needed and amazing WiFi! The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom lush. Alison was reassuringly nearby should we have needed anything but honestly everything had been thought of. Loved it made our trip just perfect.

However the information from Sykes was inaccurate. The list of pubs and places to eat showed had pubs closed down 2 years ago. Leaving us tired and hungry having driven to these places after a long long drive. I would recommend the place to stay but not Sykes.

“We had a great time in this cottage, it's exactly as described.”

The pool is 10 steps from the door & my son (age 7) loved the park & fields. It is in the middle of nowhere so alot of travelling needed but that was fine by us. The cottage was well equipped they had everything you would need at home so no need to take anything. I would recommend taking wash powder just in case you need to do a wash as we did after being at the beach a few times. Widemouth Bay was a must, gorgeous beach. We also went to watermouth Castle which was great for young kids. I would highly recommend taking food for the first night if your not getting a delivery as the town is about a 15-20 min drive away on single track roads which can be challenging sometimes (not any reflection on cottage). You can take your own floats which was a must for the kids to play with. We would definitely go back there with the grandkids.

“We loved the accommodation.”

The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Although there are others staying on the complex, we still felt we had our privacy. Due to Covid 19, there was a time slot for each family for the shared pool. We think this worked really well and preferred having our 1 hour swim with just our family. Great location. A little farm shop up the road with fresh milk vending machine! Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended.

! The owners couldn’t have done more for us especially when we arrived late in the evening in the middle of a mild storm! The cottage was lovely from top to bottom (we really enjoyed having a log fire on the go on a rainy evening) And we couldn’t have asked for more from the cottage or owners!!!

the front of the property was very over grown and didn't entice you to sit outside. the pool was great and warm enough to use well into the evening. the property was in the middle of nowhere, and the roads weren't great for going walking on. to get to many of cornwalls attractions we had to drive 30-60 minutes each way everyday. wouldn't recommend the property or area.

The weather was against us but it didn't stop us doing anything. heated outdoor pool was lovely and clean and the hosts Alison and family were perfect. explained the very few rules to us on arrival, then left us to it. can't understand any negativity surrounding this property what so ever. will 100% be returning. “The cottage was in a lovely quiet location.”

It was clean and spacious, and Alison had kindly left biscuits, tea bags, milk and apple juice for us on arrival. There were a few evenings which were a bit cool when we got back from our walk, but the central heating was easy to operate and soon we were plenty warm enough. It was almost a pity it wasn't cooler so that we could have lit the log burner! The bathroom was also spacious and the monsoon shower was very relaxing. One evening it was warm enough for me to use the heated outdoor pool, and this was a lovely experience, watching the sheep in the meadow and the trees waving in the beeze. We had everything we needed for a very enjoyable holiday, and would both recommend the cottage, and hope to return sometime.

The property

Nestled in 200 acres of lush Cornish countryside within a relaxed farm land environment is The Old Apple Tallet.

This comfortable home-from-home, with split level access, exudes a heart-warming atmosphere boasting a combination of vintage and modern furnishings.

Inside is a lovely spacious bathroom along with an additional ground floor cloakroom for your convenience.

The two bedrooms comprise a double and a single with children's bunks (with low beams).

Enjoy watching the array of birds flying back and to from their nesting box and behold lovely vistas of the surrounding verdant fields outside.

Waterloo Farm

Waterloo Farm boasts spacious accommodation with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is centrally located for visiting all of Cornwall and Devon, within very easy reach of the sandy beaches and rugged cliffs of the North Cornwall coast. There are numerous award winning restaurants, local food festivals, gardens and golf courses to visit, among many attractions easily reached within the area, such as The Eden Project, Plymouth Aquarium, and King Arthur's Castle at Tintagel, providing fun-filled action the year-round. Alongside the farm with its magnificent livestock and amid colourful hedgerows and flowers, live an abundance of wild birds, butterflies and animals such as foxes, otters and badgers. A wildlife hide overlooks the River Ottery for peaceful viewing outdoors, or should you wish to stay within the cosiness of the interior, the natural beauty can be viewed from the TVs based in every cottage. Webcams have been carefully set up around the farm, so you may just behold swallows eggs on the verge of hatching or baby bats leaving their nursery. There are lots of fun-filled activities on the farm as well as acres of lush Cornish countryside and two miles of riverside walks to explore. Try clay pigeon shooting or river fishing and enjoy the wonderful outdoor heated swimming pool, games room and giant sandpit. Meet the lovely farm animals on-site, to your surprise there may be calves and lambs to feed or eggs to collect, depending on the time of year you visit. LAUNCESTON

Bude 19 miles.

The town of Launceston, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border, has wonderful architecture, including some fine Georgian buildings in the central square, and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle sitting high above the town. You can take a stroll to the Dog friendly Willow Tree Cafe and Woodland Walk or visit the steam train from Launceston through the beautiful Kensey Valley on a 5-mile round trip. Launceston is within driving distance of the seaside resorts of Bude and Padstow to the north, and Plymouth to the south, as well as the stunning Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. A superb base for exploring Cornwall and Devon.

Note: Due to the current situation (Covid -19) and government advice, clay pigeon shooting and the games barn will not be available until further notice. Other on-site activities will be available to guests including the swimming pool, fishing, fire pit and football field.
