“A lovely cottage in a tucked-away position with sea views, yet with plenty of amenities just a short drive away.”
One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in (we have stayed in a lot), and the owner kindly provided a welcome Cornish tea. Not sure if the bottle of wine in the fridge was also a gift from the owner or whether it was left behind by a previous occupant, but we certainly enjoyed it! The only slight inconvenience was the cutlery, crockery and glassware needing to be stored away from the kitchen due to lack of space, so you have to keep toing and froing between the kitchen and living area when ...

If the owner really doesn't want dogs upstairs it might be worth considering providing a stair gate. Also on the subject of dogs: DO NOT bother attempting to take your dog to Pentewan Sands unless you are visiting between 1st November - 28th February. The ticket machine in the car park in the village will happily take lots of money off you for parking, only for you to walk to the beach to find very hostile signage banning your dog beyond that point. Polkerris also does not welcome dogs during the day, but there was somewhere where we could sit in our beach chairs at the top of the beach with our dog and take it in turns to go on the beach while the other one stayed with her.
Overall though, we had a particularly good holiday, with wonderful weather after some brief rain at the start.
I would certainly recommend Driftwood Cottage as a lovely clean and comfortable place to stay and from which to explore the St Austell Bay area.
