“I booked this remarkable cottage at the last minute for a short break.”

Wow, we weren’t disappointed! Set in quiet beautiful country side-a hidden gem indeed. Hosts Kim and Gary so welcoming and available for handy tips on travel, sightseeing and local walks. The cottage itself has everything and more you could wish for. Light, airy and tastefully designed. After a long day out a cosy warm environment to return and relax in. Early morning bird song perfect with a cuppa in a private garden. Exceptionally clean with plenty of clean towels/linen to hand. Great ...

Great location to see much of what Cornwall has to offer. Eden project, lost gardens of heligan. Fab boat trip along the river at Fowey a must. Many hidden coves to explore and coastline to walk. Padstow less than half an hour with spectacular beaches a stones throw from the harbour. Mousehole a lovey little harbour with plenty of art galleries to navigate around and of course St. Michaels mount. Incredible amount of culinary delights from a pastie on the harbour to fine dining experiences to enjoy or simply sit back at the cottage and cook up a storm!!! I’m so grateful to of stumbled across this hidden gem. Will certainly be back. There is also a small studio style accommodation next to the barn if you want additional space for guests or a smaller space for one or two. Once again Kim and Gary many thanks for your hospitality and providing such fabulous accommodation. So looking forward to returning. Enjoy all Suzanne

About the location

ST. AUSTELL

Charlestown 2 miles; Carlyon Bay 3 miles; Mevagissey 6 miles; Fowey 8 miles.

The old market town of St Austell, just a mile or two from the south coast, is famous as the historic centre of the china clay mining industry. Today, its many beaches and its sub-tropical gardens provide plenty to see and do. The wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are perfect for a family day out, and a little further afield Caerhays Castle provides a stunning backdrop to Porthluny Cove. On the edge of town, St Austell Brewery offers tours of the Victorian brewing equipment and a chance to sample the local beer, and for those looking for surf and sand, St Austell Bay has several beaches to choose from - Porthpean, Carlyon Bay, Pentewan, Polkerris - the last offering a variety of water-sports. As well as a small shingle beach, Charlestown, a pretty, historic port, often has wooden sailing ships in the harbour, and is popular as a film location. A little further afield are Fowey and its beautiful estuary to the east and the fishing port of Mevagissey to the west. With lots to do and something to keep the whole family entertained, St Austell is a great year-round destination.
