“Yes the postcode is wrong ...”
Yes the postcode is wrong We were hoping to book again but it seems that there is no availability for next year very disappointed
“Fantastic holiday home with amazing sea views in beautiful location.”
“Spectacular view no matter what the weather.”
No need to jump in the car every day, given the beach and coastal path.
“Wow. The house was beautiful and the view from the decking.”
You just couldnt improve on it. Close to the beach, felt luxurious. Really am missing waking up there. Just hooe it comes back on the rental market as its the best house ever stayed in
“The property exceeded our expectations.”
The views and property position was brilliant. 5 min walk to the beach is a great positive for the children. Out of the house and on the beach in 5 mins, what more do you want ! The house was comfortable and convivial for holiday living. Spacious when sleeping 10 the house had a great spread. The kitchen had a great store of crockery and cooking utensils . The beds were comfortable and the layout allowed for early rising children to play in the living space whilst not disturbing others. The garden was a great hide and seek playground whilst providing a well planted tiered area for eating, drinking or just thinking. We had our daughter from Canada with us and had several visitors come to say hello and all of them thought the house was brilliant. We will definitely be going back to that house. A wonderful holiday in a beautiful house.
“Absolutely brilliant property overlooking the beach and sea from the balcony, great seating area to accommodate all the family and plenty of room for everyone to be together!”
A 5 minute walk down to the beach but probably a 10 minute walk back up the hill, with a convenience shop and a great pub down there too! Loved our family holiday of 10 people at this property!
“Location was perfect.”
Fabulous open views of the beach at Mawgan Porth. Superb access to the beach and onto the coastal path for dog walks. Good local cuisine. Clean house with great bedrooms/bathrooms and heated floor in the downstairs bathroom which was bliss. Small beds however. We were a party of three so had plenty of choice of bedroom. Very dog friendly and wonderful open plan layout which worked very well for us. Garden not totally secure for dogs - could improve the fencing behind the summerhouse. Kitchen well stocked with all you need. Overall very happy with our choice.
“This is our second visit to Cutty Sark and we love the place.”
Hoping to be back next year!
“Lovely house with beautiful views of the beach in a good location.”
Comfortable, Very clean and well equipped. (Although Dishwasher did not work that well - so lots of washing up - I Should have reported it at the time!). A really lovely family holiday and we hope to book again another year.
“We did have a problem with the rubbish situation!”
There is only one bin for general rubbish and no recycling containers provided and no recycling picked up. You cannot leave any extra black sacks of rubbish out as the seagulls attack and rip apart. As rubbish is collected on Tuesday, the previous people’s rubbish was already in the bin. The rubbish had obviously been squashed in there, so when the lorry emptied the bin the bottom bag was wedged in and, consequently, on our return we realised we only had half a bin for our rubbish for the remainder of our stay. For a house that sleeps 10 and with infant in nappies it was a real problem. We were happy to take our bottles and other recycling to appropriate bins, which we did, but it was the general rubbish that we had problems with. Regarding recycling, when we looked in the rubbish storage shed it was full of previous customers rubbish,so the problem has been there for months - there were about 200 bottles and cans and plastic items. We tried putting our reclycling rubbish out daily to see if it would be collected and, in the end we drove to a beach car park which had recycling bins. The only other thing to note, particularly for anyone bringing an infant/toddler, is that even though I requested the high chair and the cot, it was only a travel cot and there was no mattress. I managed to wrap a single quilt cover around the hard base, but that would not work for a younger baby. There were 2 child gates in the cupboard, which were very useful to have at the bottom of the stairs and a the top, but a gate from the outside patio down to the garden would really make a difference to the property. I appreciate that the garden itself is not toddler friendly, but the outside terrace is level and perfect for them, but as there is no gate and it immediately goes to stone steps, it was not the relaxing area it could have been. We blocked it as best we could with chairs etc, but it would make a huge difference. The only other thing that would have been useful is an umbrella for the outside table as the views are so wonderful you wanted to spend as much time as you could out there!
“This is the third year we have been to curry sark, and its still exceeds our expectations, it's a lovely property, has a lot of character, and there's everything you will need, the views over the beach r breathtaking, its ideal for a family holiday, as the beach is so close.”

Terrific location, wonderful views, superb coastal walks, endless attractions, a very friendly dog location / area / beach
“Wow, what an amazing place this is.”
Perfect position and a really beautiful house with comfy beds and facilities, including the amazing warm shower outside . Our only feedback was we felt it lacked large pans for cooking and bowls . Also the lack of doors downstairs made it tough for those sleeping downstairs when the child woke up that was with us. Also the writing in the kitchen about where to park wasnt totally clear as it said two cars can park in front of the gate next door . Apologies for that complication for you.
“Really comfortable especially the beds.”
We loved having a great range of kitchen equipment so we could cook great evening meals some evenings as we don’t like too much take away food .we did managed to bake a birthday cake. The tea coffee milk and cake on arrival was a lovely touch . Our groups age ranges varied but we all loved Cutty Sark and agreed we will be back. I also loved the texts from Sykes welcoming us to our holiday . Well done Sykes for having such great a property on your books
“We had issues with the internet LAN link to the smart tv dropping out.”
The Property Manager advised us to use the BT TV connection, but this froze frequently too. Not a biggie, but it would have been good to have had info about how to reboot which box. We’d love to book again next year. Please let me know when we can pre-reserve the same week in 2019. Cheers Ali
This ultra-chic coastal home occupies a prime cliff-top position with captivating views over the stunning coastline at Mawgan Porth, between Watergate Bay and Padstow, on Cornwall's north coast.
Cutty Sark sits along an exclusive sea road and adjacent to The Scarlet, a luxurious ecohotel with a restaurant and spa (open to non-residents), whilst the long stretch of soft white sand and rolling surf is less than a five minute walk.
Lesser known than the beaches 4 miles along the coast at Newquay but none the less beautiful, Mawgan Porth is a sheltered cove flanked by tall granite cliffs and is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
It ranks among Cornwall's top surfing destinations and there is a professional surf school opposite the beach offering tuition for all abilities and wetsuit/equipment hire is available from the local surf shop.
Seasonal life guard patrol adds to the appeal for families and pet owners have the freedom to bring their four legged friends during all seasons. Guests here must-see Bedruthan Steps a little further along the coastal footpath, where the relentless Atlantic ocean has eroded the cliff face leaving huge outcrops of rock scattered along the length of the beach.
There are numerous eateries to suit all tastes and budgets within close reach including foodies' favourites, The Scarlet Restaurant located within paces, Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant at Padstow.
Catering well for families and within walking distance is The Fire Cafe, Bar & Grill, right on the beach and The Merrymoor Inn which provides an indoor children's play area.
Mawgan Porth also boasts an 18 hole scenic coastal golf course and is well placed for St Ives, Padstow, Truro and the Eden Project.
Backing onto the road, Cutty Sark is accessed from the rear with the entrance leading to the kitchen and sitting room with magnificent beach and sea views.
In the summer, the view compares to the Mediterranean however in winter, it is a romantic and atmospheric scene with pounding surf, buffeting winds and swirling mists.
Book a winter break and benefit from the lower rates and the chance to storm watch beside the warm glow of the wood burner in the sitting room.
There is a TV room and two bedrooms on the ground floor which when combined with the ground floor bathroom could suit guests with limited mobility.
Upstairs is a shower room and three bedrooms with jaw-dropping coastal views.
Steps lead you down over five levels through the terrace garden (young children to be supervised).
The garden is a special feature, it offers a high degree of privacy, with several vantage points to relax and soak up the view, dine-alfresco or sunbathe.
There is secure storage for surfboards and bikes/

About the location
Watergate Bay 2 miles; Newquay 5 miles; Padstow 10 miles.
Nestled between Newquay and Padstow on the beautiful north Cornish coast, Mawgan Porth is a sheltered cove with golden sandy beach, great surf and plenty of caves and coastal footpath to explore. With little distraction from its golden sands, life here revolves around the beach. Laze in the summer sun, learn to ride the waves, or watch over stormy seas on a refreshing cliff top stroll. Mawgan Porth is also home to the fabulous adults-only Scarlet Hotel, which offers Spa treatments and facilities to non-residents - and nearby Watergate Bay is the setting for Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant, which sits in a fantastic location just above the beach. Mawgan Porth has a handful of shops, including a village store and deli, and a farm shop selling locally sourced meat, eggs, vegetables, bread and pasties, as well as tennis courts, a pitch and putt, and an 18-hole golf course overlooking the Atlantic.
