Ian “A wonderful place.”
- Ian, October 2021 -
Tracy “Another fantastic holiday at Bosgilly!”
This was our 4th visit to Bosgilly, when searching for a property in Cornwall we always check availability here first. The property is perfectly located for us, very peaceful with wildlifte around yet easy access to the main road to explore West Cornwall. The bungalow is perfect, nice comfy beds and sofas. The new wall mounted TV in the living room is great. Thank you for recommending Gear Farm pasties just down the road, they were delicious and bought some extras to freeze when we got home. Thank you also for the generous welcome basket and extra logs, much appreciated. We hope to return again soon.
- Tracy, October 2021Judith “This holiday had to be rebooked following cancellation due to Covid restrictions in 2020.”
The Sykes representatives were very diligent in trying to make contact with the home owner, and in keeping us informed throughout. The cleaner of the property phoned us to let us know we could enter the property earlier than the usual 5pm, which as we had an active 18 month old in our party, this was most welcome.
- Judith, September 2021Linda “The cottage was perfect.”
It’s location meant that we had easy access to all the places in the area that we wanted to visit. The welcome pack was very sweet. A perfect destination and we were very happy and relaxed in the cottage. Thank you
- Linda, September 2021M “To be fair the photographs on the website do not do this cottage justice, for I was really impressed by how comfortable, clean and luxurious it was when I arrived.”
The cottage is situated in lovely well-maintained grounds and very well equipped and spacious. The housekeeper looking after the property was also very helpful and responsive to our queries. I’m not normally one to consider visiting a place twice, but for this property I would make an exception as it was so nice.
- M, August 2021Amy “A beautiful property.”
Spacious and clean with lots of character. Stunning garden and surrounding areas. Very helpful owners and housekeeper. A real find and we will definitely return.
- Amy, July 2021Ruth “We had such a lovely stay in Bosgilly and we hope to return one day.”
The property was spotlessly clean, beds were comfortable and the setting ideal. Beautiful gardens and we loved watching the birds. The facilities were excellent inside and out. It is a good location for visiting the Lizard and many other beautiful Cornwall settings. We could not fault the property and my husband said he thinks it’s the nicest place we have stayed. There is a steep drive leading to the property but this was no issue for us at all. We really enjoyed the privacy and loved the well kept gardens. Thank you
- Ruth, June 2021Lynda “Superb bungalow, just one niggle, I like a larger fridge as the under the counter style is such a challenge.”
Every other aspect was perfect, lovely huge fluffy towels, comfy lounge, a lovely sun trap seating area outside.
- Lynda, May 2021Ian “Really great place, a true 'get away'.”
- Ian, October 2020Tracy “Superb property in great location!”
This was our 3rd visit to Bosgilly and everything still lived up to our expectations. The property and gardens are always immaculate, and it was nice to see a checklist on arrival of everything that had been cleaned to reassure us during these difficult times. Lovely to watch the many types of birds (even a woodpecker!) on the feeders from the dining room window. This spacious bungalow is located perfectly in a peaceful location but within easy access to main roads to explore west Cornwall. Our favourite places to visit were Roskillys, Coverack, Porthleven, Padstow, Church Cove and Poldhu beach. We didn't visit the local pub but would recommend The Harbourside Refuge in Porthleven, The Old Coastguard in Mousehole and Rick Stein's in Padstow. We hope to return again next year to this very special property.
- Tracy, October 2020Robert “Extremely please with the bungalow very nice inside and out, would recommend it to friends.”

Had wonderful week at Bosgilly - great visits to kynance cove , seal sanctuary , St ives , Eden project , shopping at Truro and St michaels mount and then back to the peace and quiet of bosgilly - lovely gardens , well equipped and luxurious accommodation - hope to be back one day
- Alison, August 2020Oliver “My family and I returned to this beautiful property for the second year running after having loved our stay last year, and once again we loved our stay.”
We find the property spacious enough for our 4 adults and 2 children with plenty of room to spread out so we’re not under each others feet’s even on the rainy days spent in the house. The garden is gorgeous and extremely well maintained with access to a lovely woodland walk at the end of the garden which our children loved exploring. The property was spotless on our arrival and the owners had provided new hand sanitiser and new liquid soap in both bathrooms and the kitchen as well. Unfortunately due to the current Government COVID guidelines (and a few of Sykes own as well), the owners had had to remove access to the books, guidebooks, DVDs etc that are normally available but as we had been pre-warned of this before our arrival we made sure to pack our own as required. Yes, the driveway is a little on the steep side but it didn’t cause our 9 seater van any issues even on the rainy days and after all you can’t blame the geography of Cornwall on the owners lol! While we didn’t visit the local pub/restaurant as the menu didn’t appeal, we did visit a few other places throughout the Helston area and we found there’s quite a selection -just remember to prebook!! The village shop which had a wide range of items if you fancy avoiding the big supermarkets in Helston and the local Gear Farm makes lovely homemade Pasties! With the beautiful Poldhu and Church Cove beaches only a 15min drive away as well as the other local attractions such as the Seal Sanctuary and Flambards to name just two, we find Bosgilly a perfect base to explore the Lizard Peninsular and will be returning next year hopefully.
- Oliver, August 2020Paul “We spent a fantastic week in Bosgilly having been well informed about COVID related changes.”
The house was extremely comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. The table tennis table was a highlight for everyone and we especially enjoyed the beautiful garden for meals and relaxation. The location is ideal for Lizard beaches, walks, Helford river as well as local shops and supermarkets. Bosgilly is very highly recommended!
- Paul, August 2020Tim “I was very disappointed by the property and the service received by Sykes.”
There was no mention in the description of the property on the Sykes web site of the small wooden huts on site that were being used by various people throughout our stay. In addition the property is down an extremely steep and poorly cared for drive way which caused our car wheels to skid backwards as we were driving up it on damp mornings. The steepness of the driveway was also an issue when accessing the rubbish and recycling bins as they were located at the top of the drive. In addition, the 'foodie' pub that the property was near, which was mentioned in the Sykes description, was very poor for £40 per head. I've had much better meals for far less and this is definitely not recommended for families. When I called to complain, I was kept on hold for 45 minutes without speaking to anyone however when I called the sales booking line, I got through straight away to be told quite rudely that they couldn't deal with my issue and that I would have to go back on hold. All in all, a very disappointing experience and one that I will not be repeating.
- Tim, July 2020Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. The ‘wooden huts’ you mention are in fact garden sheds where gardening tools and machinery are stored for the purpose of maintaining the beautiful grounds of the property. The gardeners did visit on one occasion during your stay and confirmed that they had spoken with you at the time – providing some useful advice for the beach trip you had planned that day. The driveway and position of the property is detailed on the website and hasn’t proved to be an issue for previous guests: in fact many choose to return to Bosgilly. The driveway has been repaired within the last year to ensure it remains well maintained for visiting guests. Again other customers have not found any trouble accessing the bins for disposing of their household rubbish. We were sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your trip to the nearby Ship Inn: details of their menu and prices are available online and they usually receive very positive reviews. It is unfortunate that you found it difficult to get in touch with Sykes Cottages during your stay. I am afraid the reservations team are only responsible for taking new bookings which is why they would have transferred you to the Customer team to help resolve any issues. Property Owner
Geoffrey “Beautiful bungalow with plenty of space and lovely secluded garden.”
Gret location for exploring the south western end of Cornwall.
- Geoffrey, June 2019Julian “The package exceeded expectations !”
!!
- Julian, March 2019Sheila “Bosgilly is a large, spacious bungalow set in about an acre of beautiful gardens which are secluded and private.”
Everything you could wish for is provided and the accommodation is very comfortable and spotless with a lovely cream tea left for when we arrived and even fresh flowers. We greatly enjoyed our holiday and all said how impressed we were with the property and the location.
- Sheila, September 2018Stephen “The cottage/bungalow was excellent, superbly clean, very comfortable and very well equipped.”
The standard of accommodation was superb. Bosgilly is in a very quiet spot surrounded by lovely private gardens with a stream at the bottom. Probably the only negative would be the driveway from the road down to Bosgilly which is very steep but we really didn't have any problem negotiating this once we knew what to expect. It is also very easy to find being well sign posted from the road, not from from Mawgan village centre and just a few yards from the Ship Inn. Many places on this stretch of coastline are easily reached from here so it is also very well positioned. One of the nicest we have ever stayed in.
- Stephen, August 2018Holly “The cottage was beautiful, clean and the most comfortable we have stayed in.”
Lovely location and close to lots of attractions. Would recommend this place to everyone. The beds are so comfortable! 10/10 for Bosgilly.
- Holly, August 2018Diane “When a problem occurred it was dealt with very quickly leaving us to enjoy our holiday.”
We would definitely recommend this holiday to friends and family.
- Diane, July 2018Agaath “The house is perfect and the location too.”
People need to be aware of the steep drive to get to the bungalow however. It is a well kept drive (stone) but very, very steep!! We had no trouble, but a car with less power could have...

Helston lies at the western gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, a large area of downland fringed by a beautiful and spectacular coastline. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for its Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nearby is the Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west and which tells of the widespread mining heritage of this area. Nestled in a tranquil setting is the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River, where there is plenty of entertainment watching seals play and feed. If it is thrill rides that excites you, then Flambards theme park will keep you amused all day and also has excellent living history experiences. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Helston is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family.
