The property

The Wink, a single storey cottage, is tucked away in a peaceful cliff top hamlet that sits above the National Trust owned Cape Cornwall, on the outskirts of St Just.

Within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site, with rare breed cattle grazing the surrounding farmland, the landscape really doesn’t disappoint.

The Wink was converted in 2020, but the building is over 300 years old.

It was once part of Cornwall’s famous smuggling network with “Winks” situated up and down the rugged coast.

The cottage has been finished to an exceptionally high standard and provides a luxury base for couples looking for a Cornish coastal break.

With underfloor heating throughout via an air source heat pump, this stylish and contemporary property has green credentials.

Many special features such as a bespoke woodburner, original artwork, exposed granite and a leather reclining sofa, give it a contemporary feel.

Outside shutters are perfect to close out the world on those stormy evenings.

The fully prepared kitchen includes an Everhot range as well as a fridge/freezer, microwave, Smeg appliances and dishwasher, to entice the aspiring chef.

The bedroom features a king-size bed with bespoke furnishings, built in storage and smart TV, making it the perfect place to unwind and for lazy mornings.

Off of the bedroom is an amazing en-suite bathroom with stone bath and luxury double shower.

The paved and cobbled garden is an enclosed sun trap, with furniture for outdoor eating and relaxation.

It also includes a fire pit BBQ and woodfired hot tub for two.

Cape Cornwall, a short walk from The Wink, is truly spectacular – England’s only Cape and where the Celtic sea meets the English Channel.

Footpaths from the cottage take you northeast towards St Ives via some of Cornwall’s most famous mining sites, or southeast towards Land’s End through some of Cornwall’s most magnificent sandy & surf beaches, including Gwynver and Sennen.

St Just town centre is less than a mile away and offers a bustling atmosphere with numerous local pubs, cafés, bakeries, convenience stores, and art galleries, plus if you visit in July, you may catch the annual Lafrowda Day, a vibrant festival celebrating music and the arts held on the third Saturday in July.

Penzance is the perfect location from which to explore, with St Michael’s Mount, Tremenheere Gardens, geothermal jubilee pool on its doorstep.

Chapel Street is perfect for art lovers, with galleries around every corner or walk along the promenade to Newlyn (famous for its seafood) or onto Mousehole, the picturesque fishing village.

The popular town of St Ives, which is known for its excellent surfing seas and clean beaches, is also within driving distance, as are other fantastic museums and art galleries, including the famous Tate Art Museum.

The Wink is an exceptional getaway, whatever time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £300.

About the location

ST JUST

Penzance 7.2 miles; St Ives 12.9 miles.

St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and is situated approximately eight miles west of Penzance. The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.

One well-behaved large dog or 2 well-behaved small dogs welcome.
