About the location

Saltash 8 miles; Torpoint 9 miles; Looe 9 miles.

The village of St Germans is on the River Tiddy, part of the beautiful Lynher estuary which flows into the sea near Plymouth. The Cornish village has a magnificent Norman church, one of the largest in the county, with a superb Burne-Jones stained glass window. Port Eliot, one of the most enchanting and hidden Grade I listed stately homes with fabulous garden, is open to the public regularly and also holds an annual summer literary festival. There is a wonderful view of the Lynher estuary over which arches the huge Brunel viaduct, a masterpiece of engineering. St Germans has a village shop, excellent pub with a high quality restaurant, and only half an hour‘s drive from the pretty coastal villages of Looe and Polperro, each having a harbour surrounded by whitewashed fishermen’s cottages and narrow streets with interesting shops. Plymouth, the vibrant waterfront city, is half an hour’s drive away across the Tamar Bridge and offers the National Marine Aquarium, historic Barbican quay area, theatres, Drake Circus shopping centre and walks along the Hoe. St Germans is an ideal Cornish village destination with easy access to coastal attractions.
