  • “The cottage was lovely and clean!”

Amazing shower, lovely decor and a great home from home. ...

Amazing shower, lovely decor and a great home from home. The only downside was that there weren’t even a few logs for us to start a fire if we had wanted to on the first night and also that the teabags on top of the microwave need to be thrown away... The cottage is in a lovely location but the hills are very steep which is worth noting for mobility issues and could do with being mentioned on the listing. From the cottage we drove to Sennen cove to walk to lands end which I would really recommend!

The property

Alice Cottage is a recently renovated idyllic terraced cottage set within the centre of the pretty town of Newlyn, enjoying a superb coastal position within Cornwall.

This delightful hideaway is perfect for couples seeking a refreshing getaway to explore the delights of this town and further afield Cornwall including Penzance and Marazion.

Here, you will find two elegantly presented double bedrooms, each boasting a bright colour palette and ample storage and space to house your personal belongings, creating a relaxing space to enjoy a week-long break.

After an action-packed day, look forward to relaxing into the evening within the spacious sitting/dining room, where the exposed brick walls offer a sense of character and charm.

Sink into the sofa and tune into the TV, whilst the woodburning stove gently fills the room with tranquillity during those chilly winter months.

Pick up freshly caught seafood from the town's fish market or from the harbour, and rustle up a delicious home-cooked meal within the well-equipped kitchen which also boasts a stylish breakfast bar for those more casual moments.

During a balmy afternoon, open up the door and soak up the coastal setting with a refreshing drink in hand within the quaint courtyard.

If you can tear yourself away from this base, a short stroll will bring you to a magnitude of bars, restaurants and takeaways for those special occasions, as well as a number of shops and the Newlyn school of Art to explore one afternoon.

Head to the local beach to enjoy the dramatic scenery or a short car journey will bring you to Marazion where you can enjoy a boat trip to St Michael's Mount.

Alice Cottage is a wonderful base for a family holiday to Cornwall.

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1 mile.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint village in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish village is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the village, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
