“Lovely old converted farm building on a secluded private estate near Holsworthy.”

The owner was extremely helpful, providing detailed directions to find the property and also checked on a regular basis during the holiday. This is a well equipped and spacious property surrounded by beautiful countryside. The property is well equipped and has under floor heating so really nice and cosy after walking in the autumn winds. If you want to be away from other people and enjoy a remote location this is definitely the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our break in north Cornwall ...

If you want to be away from other people and enjoy a remote location this is definitely the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our break in north Cornwall and found lots of places to enjoy great food and long walks. Would highly recommend the property especially if you are looking for peace and quiet but you will need a car there is no public transport.

“A well designed property let down a little by the lay out.”

The bedrooms looked out on to the owners garden and property. The deck area was alongside a barn full of silage. The only open aspect is from the kitchen.

Many thanks for your 93% rating, we're glad you had a great time. Built in the 1850s as part of a barn complex for a farm, the cottage was converted about ten years ago. Some of the windows at the back of the cottage face part of our garden but most of the rooms are dual aspect with views over the cottage's own private garden. The kitchen-dining room and decking also have lovely views over the Ogbeare valley and woodlands. The cottage is next door to a small farm and occasionally they store hay in the barn that sits beyond the cottage garden wall (it is shrink-wrapped and does not smell) Owner relations

“Fantastic week.”

Very nice and well presented cottage. The quality of the furniture and appliances is much better than expected. It was good to have the owners nearby for assistance, not that much was needed. I would highly recommend this cottage. Only advice is, make sure you know how to locate South Drive and do not use East Drive (which the sat nav will try and use) as it is only fit for tractors.

“Ogbeare Barn Cottage is a comfortable and well equipped home from home.”

Set in peaceful countryside it has spectacular views across the valley with plenty of wildlife to watch including deer, buzzards, house martins and pheasants. The owners live next door and are very helpful - we would definitely recommend it.

“Pet friendly impressive barn conversion.”

The location is quite literally in the middle of hill farmland, with beautiful views from the kitchen patio doors. We didn't see a soul other than the owner on our arrival. Quiet and peaceful setting on a working sheep farm, although no sign of any activity during our stay. The Barn has been beautifully converted to a high spec. Everything we needed was there. Our party of 6 adults and a dog had plenty of living space, outdoor decking and garden plus room to park 3 cars privately. All guests commented on the super comfy beds, we all slept soundly after days out exploring the coast. There's plenty to do for all ages but be prepared for quite a lot of driving; there are no local amenities within walking distance.

The property

A magical setting in the grounds of the Ogbeare Estate, fabulous views over rolling countryside coupled with high quality contemporary styled accommodation make this a very special place to stay.

The rural experience is enhanced by the position overlooking the Ogbeare Valley and adjacent to Ogbeare Farm.

The north coast is an easy 15 minute drive away and you will find sandy beaches at Widemouth Bay, Bude and Crackington Haven.

All are good for surfing, swimming and sunbathing and there are a number of surf schools in the area. In an elevated spot within the Ogbeare Estate, this barn conversion has space, seclusion and that get away from it all feeling.

We simply love the approach along the winding woodland driveway which serves the handful of private residences within this former landed estate.

With ample space for six in three bedrooms, this clever, modern and tasteful conversion has a central sitting room with comfy sofas and a warm and welcoming kitchen/dining room with French doors to the decking, overlooking the valley.

The accommodation is all on one level although there are a few external steps to negotiate before entering the property.

Outside is an enclosed garden with a super deck and large lawn. The National Trust own much of the heritage coast path in this area so pack your hiking boots and head out to discover this stunning landscape.For a traditional seaside experience head to Bude for a wide range of activities including kayaking, angling, coasteering and horse riding; all to be followed by the obligatory ice creams and pasties of course.

Closer to home, there is a good convenience store and a pub within 2 miles of Ogbeare Barn and the within 9 miles the pretty market town of Holsworthy has good amenities including a Waitrose supermarket, shops, swimming pool and a golf course.

Alternatively just head out on foot with friends to explore the Ogbeare estate and the myriad of footpaths in the area and return to enjoy a well earned rest on the large sun deck, book in hand.

About the location

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
