“Our days were full of seeing this part of Cornwall Enjoying the food and drink, weather was good enough to be outside alfresco.”

Hope it won't be too long before we return.

The property

This stone-built converted barn sits at the end of a tree lined farm track within a picturesque, Cornish setting.

Nestled on the outskirts of Goonhavern, near Perranporth, Elm is located all on one floor, accessed via a set of stone steps.

The open-plan living room rests beneath the apex beamed ceiling, with an imitation woodburner adding warmth to the space as you sit and relax with a book.

Admire the garden and green fields form the scenery-filled window.

Each of the bedrooms is dressed in a different theme, ideal for families travelling with children.

A bathroom and a shower room finish the interior off nicely.

Wake up to a rejuvenating shower or choose to indulge in a long hot soak in the bath after an adventurous outting.

The large, communal garden is an excellent spot for the kids to play freely with the dog chasing them, while you enjoy a refreshing glass of wine at the table and take in the cool country air.

Goonhavern offers a pub, village shop, garden centre and children's playground.

But there are many activities available in nearby Perranporth along the coastline.

Take a gentle stroll along the beach and stop off at The Watering Hole for a pint or two.

This unusual pub rests right on the beach where you can enjoy views of the sea and even stay for the evening sunset.

The live entertainment adds to the atmosphere and the delicious food will fulfil your hunger.

Further beaches lie at Crantock and Holywell Bay, as well as St Agnes.

This is a wonderful holiday base to choose for well-earned rest near the sea.

About the location

Newquay 9 miles; Truro 9.5 miles.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.

Note: This property does not accept Stag or Hen parties.
