2026. Unfortunately my mother died suddenly on Thursday 2nd July and we were unable to visit the cottage. This was very upsetting for us all.
We informed the owner of our circumstances and that we were not able to visit, due to my mother’s sudden death. We received a sympathy email from the owner, informing us to contact Sykes Cottages regarding a refund. Unfortunately we had no travel insurance and Sykes informed us that the owner was not prepared to reimburse us any money at all.

I find it TOTALLY incredulous that under the circumstances that the owner could not have found some sympathy towards us, regarding our circumstances and reimbursed us some money back, due to us not using any of the amenities and none of the laundry etc.
I didn’t want to send this feedback, but under the circumstances I feel I need to make further customers aware of the feelings the owner of the cottage has if they are unable to stay and to make sure that they have travel insurance that will cover them if a situation like ours was to arise for them, as we had not taken out the necessary insurance to cover this unfortunate eventuality.
