“This was a great find on Sykes website.”

We were blown away by the sea views and the property was stylish, comfortable and immaculate. The location was perfect. A pleasant walk with the dog down to beautiful, sandy Praa Sands (we visited in Oct half-term). The kids enjoyed surfing, with kit hired from the surf shop (lessons were also available) and when it got too choppy a trip to nearby St Ives where it was calmer. We used the local bus (convenient stop at bottom of Trewelloe Road), taxi and trains from Penzance, to get around ...

A pleasant walk with the dog down to beautiful, sandy Praa Sands (we visited in Oct half-term). The kids enjoyed surfing, with kit hired from the surf shop (lessons were also available) and when it got too choppy a trip to nearby St Ives where it was calmer. We used the local bus (convenient stop at bottom of Trewelloe Road), taxi and trains from Penzance, to get around most of the week as two of our party had arrived by train. It definitely added to the enjoyment. The local Welloe restaurant on the beach served the best squid, with a great service and dogs welcome. I have to mention the speedy wifi, which was greatly appreciated, especially by the teenagers. It was a memorable stay, enjoyed by all of us. We strongly recommend.

The property

Shearwater sits peacefully near The Lizard Heritage Coast in the charming village of Praa Sands, Cornwall.

With space for three vehicles on the private drive, super-fast fibre broadband, a woodburning stove, and partial ground-floor living, this welcoming retreat is ideal for families or groups of friends in search of a coastal getaway.

The property enjoys sweeping sea views and is perfectly placed for exploring nearby beaches and scenic walking routes. As you approach, the fresh scent of sea air and the homely façade set the tone for a relaxing stay.

Large windows frame the coastal outlook and flood the interiors with natural light, while the tranquil surroundings offer a sense of stillness and anticipation. Step into a bright kitchen/diner, where clean lines and considered details create a space that’s both practical and refined.

The dining table, with its bench and chairs, invites sociable mealtimes and lively conversation.

A wide internal opening leads to the sitting room, allowing light to flow freely and connecting the spaces with ease.

Here, the woodburning stove provides a comforting glow on cooler evenings, and the soft peach wallpaper and carefully chosen furnishings lend a gentle character to the room.

A wall-mounted TV sits above the fireplace, blending into the overall aesthetic. From the sitting room, a door opens to a private patio — a peaceful spot to enjoy your morning coffee or toast the sunset.

Outdoor seating with sea views adds a touch of enchantment to quiet moments. On the ground floor, two thoughtfully arranged bedrooms await: one king-size and one super-king-size that can be configured as a twin.

The super-king-size room features its own TV, a sitting area, and access to a second private patio with sea views — an ideal nook for reading or quiet reflection. Upstairs, two further bedrooms each offer a TV, with one enjoying en-suite facilities including a walk-in shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC.

These rooms are tastefully styled, with desk areas, hanging space, and armchairs.

Throughout the property, the décor is unified by harmonious tones and patterns, creating a sense of flow and comfort. A family shower room completes the interior, offering a refreshing space to unwind after a day by the coast.

Outside, the front garden features a neat lawn and seating, while the rear terrace garden is beautifully arranged to make the most of the sea views.

Whether dining al fresco, sharing stories, or enjoying a quiet moment with a book, the outdoor spaces are designed to be appreciated in every season. To truly embrace the spirit of Cornwall, a visit to The Minack Theatre is highly recommended.

Perched on a dramatic cliff edge, this open-air venue offers breathtaking sea views and unforgettable performances.

For those drawn to natural beauty, the St. Agnes Heritage Coast — designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — promises dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and expansive beaches.

Art lovers will enjoy Tate St Ives, a renowned gallery showcasing both local and international works, all set against a stunning coastal backdrop. However you choose to spend your time at Shearwater, you're sure to experience the very best of Cornwall’s charm and character.

About the location

PRAA SANDS

Marazion 4.5 miles ; Helston 6 miles ; Porthleven 5 miles

The village of Praa Sands sits on the south coast in between Helston and Marazion. Praa Sands is known for its mile-long sandy beach and excellent surfing conditions. There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the beach – the perfect spot for lunch with a view or sunset drinks. Praa Sands is also home to a Golf and Country Club, from where the most wonderful sea vista can be enjoyed whilst you play. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle, the tower of which dates back to the 16th century. It is said that Pengersick is haunted, and that the ghost of a monk has been seen wandering the grounds! The house at Pengersick is rumoured to be the birth place of John Carter, the self styled King of Prussia and a tunnel which leads from the house to the beach was apparently once used by smugglers. There are supermarkets and other retail stores in Penzance (8 miles) and Helston (6 miles).

Please note, there is a charge of £50 per pet, per holiday.
