It's a really simple cottage in a great location (virtually on the harbour - not at the very front but literally takes 15 seconds to walk into the main harbour from the front door) and is perfect for a couple looking to stay right in the middle of Mevagissey. The cottage itself is a little dark, as it is quite closed in by the surrounding buildings but it is very well kept and was really all we needed as a base for the week. The owner, Jeff, was always contactable during the trip if we needed anything. He kindly phoned us before the trip to ask if we needed any restaurant / coastal walk / day trip recommendations, which was so helpful as we barely knew a thing beforehand. All of his suggestions were spot on!

The property

Smuggler's Cottage can be found directly on the harbour front from the picturesque harbour of Mevagissey, tucked away amid a collection of characterful cottages within a cobbled alleyway.

The cottage boasts a wonderful smuggling history and is well-appointed for a couple seeking to explore the wonderful setting of this Cornish coastline setting.

Internally, the cottage offers a tranquil scene with calming hues of blue and white to ensure a wonderful place for you and your loved one to come back to each evening.

Spend your down time within the open-plan living room, where you can curl up on the plush sofa where smugglers once dashed from the sea and accessed the cottage via the secret hatch.

The space comes with a contemporary kitchen area which houses all the essentials to whip up a delicious evening meal that can be enjoyed at the dining table.

Head up the open tread staircase to find a well-presented double bedroom, complete with characterful exposed beams and a well-appointed en-suite with a walk-in shower and basin.

If you can tear yourself away from this wonderful base, a step out the door will bring you to the harbour full of boats.

Choose to dine one evening at one of the superb restaurants, or pick up the essentials at one of the nearby shops.

To keep you busy whilst staying here, venture to the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan or hop onto a ferry and spend some time at Fowey.

Alternatively, venture slightly further afield to the Roseland Peninsula where you will find a selection of glorious beaches.

Smuggler's Cottage is an idyllic base for a retreat with your loved one.
