  • “Nanette was lovely.”

There to greet us after a long journey. There was a bottle of sparkly, cream tea, crisps, fruit waiting for us. The cottage has all you need and the facilities are fab inc a washer/ dryer, dishwasher and an Amazon firestick for the TV. There is a wood burner set ready and a BBQ but we didn't use either as the weather was mixed. The beds are SO comfy and cosy. The family are just next door if needed. The cottage feels so secluded up a tree lined lane but it's a lovely walk into Newlyn or Penzance Promenade - 20 mins through lanes or tree lined streets. You do have to cross a busy A30 at the outset. We also walked to Mousehole one evening but did get the bus back to Newlyn which was easy. We also walked to Marazion along the coastal path one day which is 2 and a half miles. We ended up in Newlyn on our first night and the fish was amazing at Mackerel Sky. Great start to the holiday. Lovely restaurants in Penzance too all the ones we went to welcomed the dog. Next door to the property is Polgoon Vineyard with inexpensive tours and a cafe. We didn't do the tour as have kids but we went to the Friday BBQ, which was lovely at £10 a head, during summer months. We would visit Amarrah again in the future, it was a lovely holiday for a family of four and the dog.

About the location

PENZANCE

St Ives 8 miles.

Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves, winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up. Penzance with its winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and harbour is a must as is the jumping-off point for day trips to the Scilly Isles. The South West Coast Path passing through Penzance winds its way along the clifftops towards Land’s End. On the way, stop off for a coffee and a rest at beautiful Lamorna Cove, explore the open air Minack Theatre and marvel at the cliffs as you approach Gwennap Head. A stunning walk for those seeking solitude, exercise and some of the UK’s best coastal scenery. Penzance is the perfect holiday base. Ideally placed for exploring this land of Celtic myth and legend and with enough to do and see in the immediate area to keep all the family occupied.
