  • “Very disappointed.”

After many years of using Sykes holiday accommodations this is the first time we have complained regarding the cleanliness of a property. The kitchen is in need of a deep clean, on moving the toaster we found 3 long dead spiders. The fridge freezer has thick mold on both the door seals. Oven needs to be either steamed cleaned or replaced. Food from previous guest still on bottom tray. Dishwasher had food residue on the door hinges and seals. Bed linen on second week was stained. Although advertised with wifi and landline telephone available, (no mobile signal for a minimum of 2 mile radius) the BT service was very intermittent, one particular day internet/telephone not available all day. Occupants of apartment above were very noisey over a 4 day period, moving furniture, banging and hammering until late evening on all 4 nights. Which has convinced us not to use apartments again. If this property was given the cleaning attention it needs and better sound proofing from other apartments it would be a nice place to stay, but we will not be returning. The area around Porthcurno is beautiful, a visit to the Minack Theatre is a must for theatre goers, an amazing experience. We also experienced a trip at sea with Marine Discovery (Penzance) 3 hours watching porpoise, seals and birds, again an amazing experience. A visit to the Cornwall Seal Sanctuary was well worth the trip, they carry out some fantastic conservation work. Some National Trust properties around but visit the tin mines on a dry day!!

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our feedback form for your recent stay at Lizard. Our investigation into the cleaning has been completed and we and the cleaning has been adjusted for future guests. A high-speed internet connection installed into the property and are glad that despite the points raised you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and the wildlife. Owner relations

The property

Porthcurno and its spectacular cove of soft white sands and clear azure seas framed by jagged headlands was the site of Britain's first major empire communications link in 1870 where a chain of telegraph cables connecting Britain with India was completed.

This beautiful peaceful valley creates the perfect environment for quietly lazing by the sea, walking the rugged cliff paths and enjoying stunning views, or watching a performance at the unforgettable Minack Theatre carved out of the natural rock on the cliff edge, with the sea as a magnificent backdrop. Ideally located just a short stroll from the beach, coastal footpath, tennis courts, and museum, we feature individually owned apartments sensitively converted from a former hotel.

Well appointed and featuring a light modern decor and attractive furnishings they provide all the comforts of home and all have access to the terraced gardens (please supervise young children) and communal parking.

A very attractive and supremely spacious ground floor apartment, strictly for discerning couples who put great emphasis on space and comfort.

Positioned at the front of the building entry is straight into a kitchen/diner fitted in cream Shaker style cabinets, then to the left is a richly carpeted lounge and to the right a bedroom with a super king bed (which can be arranged as a twin) a newly refurbished ensuite bathroom and French doors lead out onto a a small enclosed outdoor sitting space with access to a lockable store cupboard, suitable to store surfing and beach equipment.

There is a parking space directly opposite the apartment.
