    “It's a Sandy Cove!”

    The location is magical! The beach basically greeted me at the doorstep, or should I say deck step! I worked my way around the local beaches as the tide changes allowed, observing the vast array of Cornish wildlife and local characters. This is a working travellers dream location! Fast wifi, a super quiet, clean and modern space, the apartment provided much needed clarity to write my travel blog. The first evening I met a load of friendly people at the Blue bar across the dunes and ended up ...

    The location is magical! The beach basically greeted me at the doorstep, or should I say deck step! I worked my way around the local beaches as the tide changes allowed, observing the vast array of Cornish wildlife and local characters. This is a working travellers dream location! Fast wifi, a super quiet, clean and modern space, the apartment provided much needed clarity to write my travel blog. The first evening I met a load of friendly people at the Blue bar across the dunes and ended up surfing with them the next morning after renting a surfboard and wetsuit on the beach. The surfboard rack in the property came in handy as did the outdoor hose, this beach its seriously sandy! The sea was way warmer than the waves back in Scotland, and I was treated to sunny weather all week (except one day of rain and wind-as is to be expected on the coast). My only gripe was the garden next door, nothing to do with this property but it would be nice if it was decked as nicely as Sandy Cove. Would Recommend!

The property

Sandy Cove is the epitome of British summer vacationing, within an easy stroll of the beach.

Fresh, light and contemporary in style, yet in-keeping with the traditional layout of the quaint Cornish village of Porthtowan, this seaside apartment has been created for families and surfers alike.

Porthtowan is a thriving coastal village with a relaxed vibe and a good range of local facilities.

Within a few moments walk of the apartment are a small supermarket, a delicatessen and an ice cream shop as well as local pub/restaurants including the popular Blue Bar bistro for ocean front, alfresco dining. Large French windows flood the apartment with light and open out to a super deck with views of the sea.

Here you can relax away from the activity of the beach with a good book or cook up some fresh local food on a barbecue.

With views of sand dunes and clear waters rolling onto the blue flag beach, the apartment could hardly be closer to the expansive beach which is life guarded from May to September.

As well as the picturesque beach being great for picnics sunbathing and swimming, novice to experienced surfers will be well catered for with a local surf school offering tuition to all ages plus surfboard and wet suit hire. The spectacular South West Coast Path runs through the village towards the beautiful beaches of Chapel Porth and St Agnes in the East and Portreath in the West so be sure to bring your walking boots.

For a more cosmopolitan day out head to Falmouth, just 30 minutes away by car on the South coast and enjoy getting lost in the captivating lanes for a day of shopping, browsing art galleries, visiting artisan eateries or exploring the National Maritime Museum.

Part of a small development, Sandy Cove is on a no through road that leads to the beach.

Offering flexible accommodation for groups of up to four, there is a double room with a king size bed and a second room offering a double bed with a single upper bunk making it suitable for couples or children (guest numbers are limited to four).

All on ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x adult bunks with double lower bunk and single upper bunk. Bathroom with bath, shower over, sink and WC. Open plan sitting room with dining space and kitchen.

About the location

PORTHTOWAN

St Agnes 4 miles; Portreath 4 miles; Truro 9 miles.

Porthtowan is a small village resting on west Cornwall’s beautiful coastline, renowned for its Blue Flag beach, which at low tide exposes almost a mile and a half of fine, golden sands. Fringed by impressive granite cliffs, the beach is a popular surfing venue and is lifeguarded during the summer, making it ideal for families. Porthtowan is part of the St Agnes designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are some wonderful walks to be found, offering vivid scenery along the South West Coast Path, whether you choose to head east to St Agnes or west to Portreath. The towns of St Ives and Penzance, with their art galleries, restaurants and quaint harbours, are half an hour’s drive away, whilst Flambards Theme Park, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, and the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station are just a few of the other diverse attractions scattered around this picturesque region. A great base for a varied family break.
