“So pleased with the accommodation and would love to rebook for next year, however, I don't seem to be able to do this.”

Coast watch is home from home and we loved it.

The property

A short stroll from the sea, a surfy beach and the coastal footpath, Coast Watch is a gorgeous modern home with sea views from the first floor and an enclosed garden.

An excellent venue for a coastal break, it sits in a hill top position in the seaside village of Portreath, located midway between St Ives and St Agnes on Cornwall's dramatic north coast. Portreath is a small yet vibrant resort with a choice of shops, traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants.

You can amble down the hill to the beach with the kids and the dog, swim in the rock pools, book a surf lesson, hunt shore crabs in the harbour at low tide or relax and soak up the laid-back vibe over a cream tea at the beachside cafe.

The beach is safe for bathing, popular among surfers and lifeguard patrolled during the main season.

Ideal for hiking and biking, you can hire a bike and explore the coast to coast mining trail from Portreath to Devoran and walk from the front door along the coastal footpath for soaring cliffs, superb bird life and startling beautiful views.

The 18 hole parkland golf course at Tehidy Park Golf Club is within a ten minute drive and the must-see seaside resorts of Porthtowan, St Ives, St Agnes are all within a 30 minute drive. Coast Watch offers a light and colour filled home interior.

Designed for family fun, the spacious open plan living room is the hub.

There is seating for six guests with plump leather settees for kicking back, books, jigsaws and board games.

The immaculate kitchen is well equipped and the big dining table is ideal for sociable meal times.

Open the patio doors on warm days for afternoon sun and barbecues.

Head upstairs to a family sized bathroom and three smart and comfortable bedrooms.

You can lie in the king size bed and admire sea views.

The other double bedroom has a sleek en-suite shower and a super king size bed (which can be presented as twin beds on request) and children will love the bunk bedroom.

About the location

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
